  1. Dusty decides to Eyre it out instead of sending Z in.
  2. I just stare into space. The Cubs have had that effect on me, especially the brilliant moves of Johnny B.
  3. I hope not. Z has to prove he's a gamer by throwing 150 pitches just like they did in 73.
  4. And I hope he realizes that scoring one run at a time with speed and sacrifices isn't going to win a lot of ballgames (unless your pitching staff is remarkably good) The beauty part of that was there were no sacrifices for that run. Theriot turned a double into a triple and scored on an infield grounder. A run scoring ground out is as much of a sacrifice as a grounder to the right side that moves a runner over. Everybody applauds it, but a double or HR would have been much better. Of course a homerun or a double would be better but scoring when that was the only hit is a good thing too. Not that it's on the top of the list but stealing a run like that always helps. This was one time a groundout was more productive than a K.

  6. Speed scored that run. I hope Hendry realized that you have to actually be on base first to take advatage of it though.
  7. Nice throw Jocko. I think Mabry has proven that he should not be re-signed next year.
  8. Thar she blows: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=35664
  9. I'd rather have him work on pitch recognition.
  10. Where are the southern Cal people around here when you need them? I don't know that much about Bochy but I will say I don't want Hendry to give up a prospect for him.
  11. I was just looking up Nebraska's schedule and was reminded that they no longer play OK every year. I used to enjoy those games. I'm happy that Cincinnati doesn't have to play a top team like Ohio State and VTech this weekend. That was as tough of a bak to back as any in the country and they played them pretty tough too. Go Cuse and beat those Cowboys from Wyoming!
  12. You could play the "How many times does he mention Aaron" drinking game too.
  13. I glanced at your headline and thought you wrote Stone as GM! IMO, I think it would be a decent move for McDonough to get Brenly's opinion on what went wrong and how to right the ship and not so much offereing him the manager job.
  14. A couple of things CFP: -IMO, no way will Wilson sign to be a platoon guy with Jones, not nearly enough AB's for him. -I wanted Tejada last year for Prior and others and now it's too late and the cost is going to be way too high, higher than what you suggested IMO. -If this is Hendry's year to prove he can stay as GM I don't see him gambling on Theriot/Fontenot to lead off, he saw the disaster in 2005 and thinks Pierre was an excellent leadoff hitter in 2006 and will go for a proven leadoff guy. -I like Patterson but he's a Jones clone except for speed and I don't think it would be a good thing for him mentally even with the coaches gone to return to Chicago. If what you wrote came true I'd be thrilled.
  15. So you're saying most of the sacks Seattle has are coverage sacks? I think it will depend on how much time Grossman has and the decisions he makes. If he has a lot of pressure from the Seattle rush and makes bad decisions the Bears will have problems. I think he will and Seattle will win by more than 10.
  16. This is why he's so worried about what the press and other outside distractions are doing to his team instead of being focused on the real problems. He just can not take responisbility for anything that goes wrong, it's always because of something else.
  17. I wonder how the Trib feels about this? If the Cubs win 85 games they would have came in first, it might just push Hendry and Co. out the door.
  18. Well DJAXX, are you a Seattle fan now too or are you going to change your name?
  19. Edward K is really Andy MacPhail.
  20. It was only a matter of time before this happened. Good luck with your operation Matty.
  21. I will now read you the Riot Act: "A small sample to judge a player on while hoping he is the answer or the real deal"
  22. It was Restovich's fault Vance. I don't care if he was in Iowa he should have known better.
  23. and playing to win as a team and not for individual stats. too bad dusty doesn't think this way or they might be alot closer to .500 this year. Come on now. The Cubhouse Country Club just wouldn't be the same now would it? nope it wouldn't. cant make the players uncomfortable or they might get upset. they dont earn enough $ to have to put up with that. I like the way Baker disciplines the vets. He scolds the rookies after they make a mistake the vet has made numerious times and hopes the vet hears it from his jacuzzi. That my friend is tough love.
