    They are in a conference and since the Big East is so terrible ND wouldn't even have to play their starters all year. Why not just make the Big 10 the real Big 10 and have Penn State and ND join the Big East.

    Not happening with the Cubs. He's played for three big-league managers and none of the three has been fond of him. His most recent manager was in the Cubs system as a coach. I'm sure they still talk. So no, he's not coming here. Thanks Bruce. I've heard he's a funky bird but I'm surprised they don't want him but would pay all that money for Soriano after he threw a fit about playing left.

    I don't want the side show that Bonds would bring with him along with the fact who knows if he could even play the OF. I think he'd want to DH and get his record.

    I don't understand how Michigan is screwed since they are still #2. In Most cases the #2 teams drops a couple after a loss but they didn't. I like Michigan but they had their shot at OSU. screwed because if the schedules matched up, they would play OSU AFTER USC played ND Well they should have beat OSU then. Once you lose this whole system goes stupid.

    Any team can sign 5 type A/B players this year plus the number of A/B's lost. Assuming Pierre as a Type B is gone (Aramis doesn't count since he's ours), we can sign 6. DeRosa and Soriano leave us 4 more. Thank you. The Cubs have options a plenty!

    Agreed. A guy in my office said Michael Kay had Lou on his radio show for a half hour Friday. He was talking about getting a young bench. Floyd doesn't seem to fit that bill. But, if he was a bench guy, I'd live with it. He also said they have an offer out to Gary Mathews to play CF. GMj scares me. His 2006 was worthy of a $10 million deal, but his career screams 4th outfielder. He's just so inconsistent. He's been abysmal in some years, but has had some good years as well, only in hitters parks. I agree but Mathews would just cost money while another CF may cost players. If the Cubs have the cash let them spend it and keep their players old and young and then trade the players to aquire the guy they want. IMO, it leaves the resources free and open. Yes, if cash is limited then you do the player trade.

    He must be red in the face now that the Cubs have opened the pocket books up. Imagine if Hendry didn't want to waste the money because he knew that Baker wouldn't be able to do the job? Yeah I know that MacPhail is gone and the Cubs have some money to spend but it makes me wonder if Hendry thought Baker wasn't that good or worth wasting any more time and money on.

    If the Cubs sign Drew and then trade Jones for pitching I'll be quite impressed with Hendry this off season.

    This is why I hate the DH, well one big reason. The fact that a guy like this gets to go to the AL and if all things were even he might have been a bench guy for the Cubs.

    How many Type A free agents can the Cubs sign? If the Cubs sign Lee could they still go after Schimdt? IMO, if they did get Lee they would be moving Jones and others for pitching. How mcuh better is Lee over Jones? Is he better?

    That frosts me because Arkansas gets punished because the "experts" didn't think they would be that good. IMO there is no reason why some stupid poll before the season even starts has so much influance on who plays in the BCS Championship game.

    Pending a physical Soriano is a Cub. 8 years for 136 looks to be the maximum years/money. Rumors around that the last 2-3 years might be option years (no idea whose) and that approx 90 mil is guaranteed. Everybody who doesn't like the signing is negative and Jim Hendry just can't get the props he deserves. Everybody who does like the signing doesn't understand statistics or finances and needs 10 more years of school. I'm bitter and sarcastic (for the last few comments at least) what about those of us who don't like the terms but like the signing anyway? :shock: :shock: You and I AGREE ON SOMETHING? Dogs cats...living together!
