  1. He thinks he's at a Florida Gator game. A little touched in the head he is.
  2. 2 pitches and he strikes him out? :D
  3. Ray's brother Kind of like Chuck from Happy Days?
  4. anybody that roots for a major college program and thinks that the athletes on the team are students of the same caliber as the average student at that school is kidding themself. Maybe not but some schools prefer to have kids that are not students in any capacity. Winning and doing it "the right way" is almost impossible because of these schools.
  5. Sure but all sports have bad divisions that boost the record of other teams. Heck the main three have bad CONFERENCES...the NFC, NL, and Eastern Conference are all bad, and so the "good" teams in those conferences have a natural advantage. My problem is more that there isn't an even schedule for teams in the same division. Part of that is a function of interleague. Part of it is a 6 team division. In any case, it's a pet peeve that I'd like to see fixed. I'd like to see a 28 team division and the Yanks and Red Sox in the other.
  6. Absolutely. It's been quite a refreshing year on the whole. Every manager makes some stupid decisions, it just happens over the course of 162 games. But more often than not Lou has been damn good. We blow this lead? He'll be crucified. Think Rex-type crucifixion. If the Cubs blew a lead like the Mets or Red Sox had maybe but a 3 game lead isn't the most impossible thing to lose with 6 games left. As a matter of fact, I like having his presence in the dugout.
  7. The Cards are a unique situation due to them winning last year and being bounced out down the stretch this year, they've been to the top and do like they've been neutered.
  8. Shoot, I was thinking this was about a Dunn, Beltran and Soriano OF for the Cubs.
  9. Yanks aren't fighting for a playoff spot. They pretty much have it in the bag. First place?
  10. Lou is a good manager. I just can't ever remember having a manager think like this since I've been posting on Cubs.com then here.
  11. Does anyone know what happened to all the North Carolina teams? There's a lot of talent around the area, what's going on? Are other teams just reaching in and taking all the blue chips?
  12. Why? Someone questioned the testicular fortitude of his back up qb and he took great exception. I like it when a coach defends his players. If he does it weekly like that it's one thing but I don't see anything wrong with it other than it's a bit over the top but I've been peeved like that before too and once it starts flowing, well it gets flowing.
  13. Their biggest break is that no one else in the division is that good. If the Cubs won 90 something games this wouldn't have even came into play.
  14. I think it's just a change of a players frame of mind. It's a possible adrenaline flow that brings or flows the blood and gives more oxygen to the brain.
  15. Do you honestly think what is written on a message board determines how the Cubs play?
  16. Maybe it's my imagination but the teams that are out of the playoffs seem to act like they won the World Series when they beat a team that is fighting for a playoff spot. This situation seems to have livened up their seasons and I've seen it for years and every time I see the Mets or Yanks lose I see a huge celebration by the other team, especially if it's a winning run in the 9th. Don't get me wrong, I like to see the non contenders do this but, why do you think they do it? Is this their playoffs? Are their competitive juices flowing again once they feel the playoff tension? I just think it's interesting to see these "spoilers" continue to do this as they have for years.
  17. Let's hope the air is heavy today. I wonder if you were sitting behind the plate if you could actually go get a ball that was hit in the CF bleachers?
  18. 10 Marlin fans, you mean? But of course!
  19. I wonder if that rain will scare away the 10 fans that were planning on going?
  20. Can I trust you people to give me a decent play by play tonight? As much as a lot of you make fun of Santo, you guys are a heck of a lot more like him than you are Pat!
  21. He did some great things in Toronto. I wish him well in his bid to stay retired, to relax and enjoy it.
  22. I hope not, if he did he will play and rain pain upon all of us. I am thinking 7 homers in the three games we play. I don't think Dunn hates us. He was quite right pointing out the field conditions @ Wrigley -- others have mentioned the Cubs need to resurface soon. I don't view it as being a jerk or anything, he's just pointing out the facts. I don't think he does either. Who said Dunn hates the Cubs?
