  1. I agree that SS/RF/CF are the priorities and it doesn't matter which one gets filled first as long as it's an upgrade. I want the best available for any of the 3 and then you can go from there.
  2. I just don't want to work the game threads when Fukudome is playing. The temptation would be too great for the angry and upset.
  3. Well to be fair, you did bring it up. And if I refer to someone by first name only, and you're confused as to who I could possibly mean, please...let me know and I'll clarify. :) i know who people mean its just to egotistical for my humbled self, as you might imagine ;) i dont like to call alex rodriguez, arod. or even ichiro suzuki, ichiro. the only first name people in sports ill do it to (off the top of my head): Mark Kerry i have the same rant about Senator Clinton, but people are sick of me saying it Hillary Hillary Hillary People around here call her a lot of things and it isn't Hillary or Senator Clinton. :P
  4. So it's Rocktober in Chicago too? Maybe if the Bruins and Rangers are good again you'll have the NHL back on ESPN.
  5. Hunter being a free agent isn't as bad as it would have been if MacPhail was still with the Cubs. Maybe the O's will sign him.
  6. Yeah, it's way past time to get rid of Turner. On a Viking note, why the heck is AP only getting the ball 12 times? I didn't get to see the flow of the game but this guy has to get the rock more than that.
  7. ESPN has just announced it's changing its call letters to YES2. That's funny....and close to being true. Thank God for the Red Sox because it makes them talk about the Yanks only 75% of the time while the Sox nab about another 20%.
  8. Well he did only say he has a "great chance" not that is was a given he was the starter. True but great chance with Lou is a heck of a lot better than a great chance with Dusty. I think Baker has made a lot of us a little pessimistic about the chances of young guys playing.
  9. I've been saying that S. Florida was overrated for a few weeks now. They beat an Auburn team that was severely struggling at the QB, OL, and RB positions earlier this year, and they beat a West Virinia team that was also a bit overrated and without a healthy starting QB. So just Big East teams are overrated? We'll see how over rated they are when they play one of the great teams of the SEC today. Let's not forget that Louisville had Kentucky beat at Kentucky until the last minute but I'm sure that was because they were so much better. Sorry, sometimes I forget how the SEC mind works.
  10. What a crazy year. Kansas and Arizona St now will get a chance to climb as their schedules get tougher as long as they continue to win.
  11. I think it stunk.
  12. I don't think the Sox would move him because of the lunatic fringe. Same difference, but on further review he also has a full NTC. Do you think the Cubs are in a position to work out an extension for Manny? Does he want to leave Boston? I think a lot of players would like to play for the Cubs and having Lou here might make it even more attractive.
  13. There's a big uproar about him saying that if they lose it's not the end of the world. I agree with him but many fans are in an uproar about it so it's possible he get moved. The 10-5 thing would be worked out with the right dollars. Mind you all, I'm not a Manny fan but he is an impact bat.
  14. Not a bad idea to sell high for once.
  15. Probably. I think the Sox might sell him cheap and pick up quite a bit of salary too unlike before when they just gave him away but also didn't give any salary relief.
  16. If the Red Sox lose soon, he may be available.
  17. Tom Gordon's cousin....that's great. Yes, the who's who of A ball and 47 year old guys who haven't got a shot in heck of playing MLB again. Which brings me to another point. Why do you come out and say "we're gonna name names in about 2 weeks, everyone get ready!!"? Why not just....you know, come out and name the damn names? Could it be that someone is, well, "willing to discuss" not naming a particular name......for a price, perhaps? Yes, I know.....paranoid conspiracy theorist. Just makes me wonder though. I think it may be because of the World Series. The timing of this would be terrible. Did the McCarthy era really effect you that much?
  18. yo caught me, he is going to name me and Derwood. I got mine from Marion Jones She took the same denial course Raffy did.
  19. Tom Gordon's cousin....that's great. Yes, the who's who of A ball and 47 year old guys who haven't got a shot in heck of playing MLB again.
  20. I wonder if the Reds are going to spend the money needed to fix Dusty's vet habit? I'm sure he has a lot of players that want to play for a manager that won't say a thing when they screw up and get a lot of AB's if they've been in the league for awhile. The 150 hitters have hit the lottery.
  21. You are probably correct. Do you think that's the way it should be? LSU would have to beat Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and the SEC Eastern division winner (Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, or South Carolina) to get to that point. Is that enough in your mind to leapfrog S. Florida or BC? I know it will be in the coaches poll. SFlor has to beat Rutgers, UConn, Cinn, Syracuse, Louisville and Pitt to finish 12-0. Imo, any close game will take away points from them. Is Kentucky in the same division as LSU? If so, if they win out who goes to the Champ game? LSU controls their own destiny in the SEC...they are in the western division while Kentucky is in the east. Does Kentucky or are they in the same division as SC? I like Woodson but I saw him turtle a couple of times and if he wants to be a NFL QB he can't do that.
  22. Kansas State is no pushover, but they don't have more talent or depth than Auburn nor should they have "beaten Auburn on the road". Kansas State played Auburn when Brandox Cox was more likely to throw a ball into his opponents' arms rather than his receivers'. Also, that was the first college game for 60% of Auburn's starting offensive line. Auburn still won by 10 points. As an aside, South Florida isn't as strong as some think either. If they run the table with the remainder of their Big East schedule, I guarantee you they will lose their bowl game. Auburn turned the ball over 5 times against South Florida and lost in overtime. Auburn is not a contender this year, but they fielded a more talented team than South Florida. As did WV and White got hurt when they lost at SFlor, or does that rule just apply to Auburn? Many good teams are going to win and lose due to turnovers and this season is proving you have to bring it every game no matter who you are. South Florida absolutely deserved both victories over Auburn and West Virginia. Obviously, all teams must deal with injuries, turnovers, etc., and South Florida has done an excellent job in creating turnovers and capitalizing upon injuries this year. The point of that portion of my post is that I do believe South Florida is likely to be exposed as a team with inferior talent/depth if they happen to play an Oklahoma or LSU in the national title game. I hope they get a chance to prove it! I don't understand how you think Auburn is more talented though.
  23. You are probably correct. Do you think that's the way it should be? 24. If LSU runs the table I think they will leapfrog Either an undefeated SFlor and/or BC (obviously if they are both 11-0/12-0 respectively) to the #2 spot that is if OSU also wins all their games.
