  1. **Obvious Statement Alert** The Cubs will almost certainly make the playoffs But if the can’t hit/score runs when the wind is blowing in, they have no shot in October.
  2. I am happy Castro is starting for Swanson instead of Shaw. Go figure.
  3. I believe it's been mentioned in other threads, but Jed "Value" Hoyer is probably waiting for the off season to trade some of the minor leaguers. The price of players should come down, probaby considerably. It doesn't help for this season's playoff push, but it sets them up to be buyers over the winter. And I agree that Tucker will be a Cub for 2 1/2 more months.
  4. Wasn't being critical, and I know you posted well before the trade. Just pointing out that of those listed, Armstrong was traded (since he's really not a well-known prospect at this point).
  5. Sent to the Twins in trade for Castro.
  6. Cramping in his right hip.
  7. I don't think the Cubs make a big splash (unfortunately). I think they will reinforce the rotation with the thought that Taillon and Assad should be back soon. This will also help the bullpen by bumping Brown and maybe even Horton. And I think the way Shaw has been hitting since the ASB means they don't view 3B as a black hole offensively.
  8. Chicago's first "#23". I have his bat from a Spring Training game in 1984 (back when he used a black bat). His 1984 season was a preview of things to come in his career. May he rest in peace.
  9. Alex Cohen should not be in a MLB broadcast booth. Unless he's serving drinks or something.
  10. If available, does Dean Kremer move the needle for anyone. He's been pretty solid since the start of May.
  11. Fairly certain Sunday will be an opener followed by Ben Brown. The Brewers series will be Boyd, Rea and Imanaga.
  12. So good options should/will be available and I keep thinking the "big" rotation add will be Adrian Houser.
  13. Great throw. Horrible effort in the running.
  14. Link A few caveats out of the gate here. Umpiring, especially behind the plate, is extraordinarily difficult and Major League Baseball employs some incredibly talented individuals to do it. And the strike zone box that appears on television is far more specious and arbitrary than most viewers think, especially when it comes to the bottom and top of the zone. But even with those concessions, home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi did not have his best night on Monday working behind the dish in the Philadelphia Phillies-San Francisco Giants game. After expanding the zone on Bryce Harper in the top of the eighth with the score knotted at 1-1, Cuzzi watched three Orion Kekering pitches to Matt Chapman potentially get a decent part of the zone without busting out a strike three call in the bottom of the frame. Chapman would eventually aim a single through the right side of the infield, setting up the Giants' game-winning run in a contest they went on to win, 3-1.
  15. Looks like Ryan Jensen is back with the Cubs organization.
  16. Has a player ever hit 3 HRs in a game and then not started the following game?
  17. Didn't the Cards have a dongfest in the previous series at Busch??
  18. Current Cubs are 2 for 17 against Bibee. Current Indians, err Guardians, are 5 for 18 against Shota. What does this mean? Nothing probably.
  19. I’m convinced Counsell likes staggering the lineup L-R-L-R.
  20. Is there ever a reason to question why Brujan is pinch hit for???
  21. I don’t think I’ve ever see a ball hit the bleachers that quickly! LAZER!
