  1. Looks like the Friars are firing their manager. *sorry, I don't know how to insert the actual tweet
  2. Steele with a very nice outing against the Bucs' AAAA team.
  3. Despite how this season has transpired, I’m sad that this is the last week of Cubs baseball. Even with a crap roster, I still love the Cubs. And I still feel better about wins than losses. Looking forward to going back to following the MiLB teams for at least the next few years. Excited to see how some of these guys develop. May even drive up to Phoenix to see a AZ Fall League game or two.
  4. Mills was pretty solid in June, July and August. But September has been a disaster.
  5. Unearned as it is, color me shocked that Megill gives up another run(s) during an outing.
  6. Cubs tie it up, 3-3 Frank continues to hit and get on base - 2 for 2 with a BB
  7. Well, the end is almost here. Another dinger, this one in the first inning, and the Cubs down early. But they’re already mounting a comeback.
  8. Remember how much we laughed when Brewers fans thought their front office and future outlook was better than ours? What idiots they were What exactly have the Brewers done to make you envious?
  9. I enjoy reading the threads about the farm. Looks like it’s being restocked very nicely.
  10. Also looks like the umps have stopped giving a sh!t about checking the pitchers’ hat/glove after the third out.
  11. Willy framing like he’s catching batting practice. Doesn’t seem to be much effort thru the first 5 batters.
  12. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Game 6 of the WS, thus forcing a Game 7.
  13. The betting market isn’t even offering him at 250:1 to win, so I don’t think he’s a realistic candidate. Max Scherzer is -260 Forgot about Scherzer, he’s a shoo-in. I don’t think Wainright wins but he would be “a” front runner I’d imagine, along with Max, Walker and Julio. Dodger rotation as usual is pretty filthy.
  14. Cubs battle in the 9th, but come up a run short with tying run in scoring position.
  15. Adam Wainright is 16-7 with a 2.89 ERA. How is this possible??? Is he a Cy front runner? Certainly he’s a candidate.
  16. And he closes out the WS on 8 pitches. Was hitting 96-97 on his FB.
  17. Alex Lange with “closer” duties tonight. Tigers up 4-3 over the White Sox in the 9th.
  18. Paul Allen has some doozies!! This call. The Favre interception against the Saints. The Cards TD on the last play of the regular season which knocked them out of the playoffs. Good times!!
  19. Jake can't make it out of the first inning against the Cards: 1/3 inning, 3 H, 1 BB, 5 R / 4 ER Enjoy retirement Jake. Seriously.
  20. I would like him to keep up his hitting pace until about July 30, 2022. Just in time for some team in contention to overpay for him.
  21. Yeah, Megill hasn't even been unimpressive. He's just downright bad. I don't mind losses like last night. They mad a comeback to tie/take lead in the game twice late, which was nice to see. Showed some gumption yet still lose. Very 2013 & 2014.
  22. you're a Packers fan posting in a Bears thread, that's all you need to be aware of. It will be read as douchiness regardless of your intent 9/10 times Well that's pretty petty. Seriously. *edit* And for what's it's worth, I've been a member of this forum for almost two decades. I don't spout off, I don't antagonize, I certainly don't troll. I'm a huge Cubs fan. So I generally don't post on any of the non-Cubs threads because I'm a Cubs fan first. But I obviously incorrectly thought that being on this board so long at least gave me a little bit of credibility as not being a troll. Apparently not. I'm not Bears fans by any means, but I think I'm a mostly objective fan in all sports. And I really don't think anything I've posted about the Bears (rarely) is egregious/outrageous/inflammatory/whatever. Seriously. And if "anything" I post on the Bears forum is "read as douchiness" because I'm a Packers fan, well that's pretty thin skinned.
  23. I know a lot of people don't want to see the Cubs win, but I like what they're doing of late. Will the couple of spots in the draft cost them? Maybe, maybe not. But I do like that they're playing tough and winning a bit. I know it's been mostly against crappy teams, but so what. Would have been easy to mail it in on all fronts. I just can't root for them to lose. On a different note, I know it was questioned during the lengthy losing streak Rossy's role in all of it. Could probably give him some accountability even though he had sub-standard roster. But then he should also get some credit for getting this roster to play, not give up, win some games, and be competitive against better clubs.
  24. Chirinos ties it with a 2-run bomb in the top of the 8th. Heuer gives up a solo shot in the bottom. Ponies up by 1.
