  1. Wasn't McNutt the Cubs' top pitching prospect just a couple of years ago?
  2. Willson Contreras is 2 for 2 with an rbi. This kid can hit. Javy with a K in H first AB. Montero is 0 for 2 so far.
  3. I know PJ Francescon is pretty old for AA, but he is dealing this season. If he a prospect at all or is this season just smoke and mirrors? Michael Heesch is also putting up really good numbers at myrtle beach. And what about Wilson Contreras as a catcher. Offensively, he's been really consistent all season, sitting around .330.
  4. Javy is 1 for 2 so far. Olt with a BB and Villanuea is 0 for 2. Miggy is 0-3 with 2 Ks so far at Tennessee. PJ goes 6 innings, allowing a run on 4 hits (HR), 3 Ks and 3 BBs.
  5. Ian Happy up to .290 with a 2 for 5 day. But he had 3 Ks. Miggy was 1 for 3 for Tennessee. Javy was 1 for 4 with an rbi, 2 Ks and a BB.
  6. Carson Sands with a nice outing for Eugene. Got roughed up his last outing.
  7. Then go to a AA game, because McKinney isn't even close to MLB ready yet.
  8. Rookie pitcher Eddie Butler died on the filed: TWICE! Link to article
  9. Javier Baez was 2 for 3 with a BB, 2B, BB and no Ks in his rehab in AZL. Carson Sands had an up and down game: 5 innings,6 hits and 4 BBs, 3 runs -but 0 earned runs to go with 2 Ks. 2012 comp pick Paul Blackburn with a decent outing for Myrtle Beach: 5 1/3 with 4 hits, 4 Ks, 1 BB and 1 ER. Took the loss in a 1-0 game. Corey Black has really been struggling of late at Tennessee. In his last 4 outings, he's gone 3 1/3 and given up 9 total ER. Zac Rosscup finally gave up a run after 4 straight outings of dominance. In his 5 appearances since returning from injury, he has 4 1/3 IP, 2 hits, 2 BBs, 1 ER and 12 Ks. AAAA Mike Olt with a 3-run dong for Iowa. His avg sits at about .260. Throw-in piece in a trade somewhere? Does he have ANY value to anyone??
  10. Pierce Johnson with a decent night so far: 6 innings, 8 Ks, 1 run (earned) but 2 BBs and 5 hits.
  11. Consecutive nights that a highly touted (albit young) 2014 drafted pitcher gets lit up. Hopefully Dylan Cease breaks that trend in his next start.
  12. Definitely a "sell high" guy. Get something for him if you can. May have a decent season for another team but reminds me of the type of guy that will never have sustained success in the bigs.
  13. You can take the uniform off the douche, but a douche is a douche is a douche.
  14. I've noticed his "pickoff yips" are less of a thing when he doesn't let anybody on base. Took him a while, but I'm glad he's adjusted.
  15. Gleyber was 2/5 with a double for South Bend. Chritian Villanueva with another DONG for Iowa in their win. Does he have any possibility of getting a call-up before September? He's gotta have some value, either for the Cubs or in a trade, no?
  16. Carson Sands got absolutely lit up today: 1/3 inning, 1 K, 8 hits, 1 HBP, 1 WP, 9 runs, 9 earned runs. Holy hell!!!
  17. I kinda like the start time on a Sunday. Gives me a chance to so somethings and still catch the game. Earlier games and I find myself "couching it" the entire day.
  18. Zach Rosscup pitched an inning of relief in AZ League and K’d all three batter he faced.
  19. Wonder if Schwarber being called up is a bit of a tryout/showcase for other teams to see how MLB ready he may be at catcher. Him being able to be serviceable at catcher right now improves his trade value. Not suggesting he be traded, but it would give other teams (and the Cubs) and idea of where he is.
  20. Gleybar with a nice night, going 3 for 5 with two doubles for South Bend. Pierce Johnson goes 6.2 innings, allowing 1run (HR), 6 hits, 5 Ks and 2 BBs for the Smokies. Corey Black gets the final out of the inning (K) with 2 on.McKinney with the collar so far in 4 ABs. Christian Villanueva with a couple of DONGS for Iowa in their blowout so far.
  21. Daury outpitches Lucas, and Chesny goes 4-4. MB leads Potomac 5-2 late.
  22. Absolutely. But it's hard to fault them for allowing Almora's past success at higher levels power him over the shinier, newer Jimenez, who happened to heat up for a few weeks before he went down for a few more. Speaking of which, is there any word on Eloy's condition? It was said to have been minor, and not requiring a DL stint. That was July 3, and he hasn't played since, so he may as well have. Eugene's roster is allowed 35 players so the DL is only used when the player's injury is severe enough that he is transferred to Arizona for rehab. Eloy playing tonight and is 1 for 1?
  23. I'm guessing it's the time (in seconds) from the time the catcher catches the ball until he "pops up" into a throwing position.
