  1. The Cubs will need to make a roster move for the doubleheader on Tuesday, right? They can add another pitcher. Wouldn't it most likely be Roach? They don't have to wait 10 days to recall him if it's for a doubleheader, do they?
  2. Bryant not feeling the "hangover" effects yet.
  3. Misplay at first cost Hammel an additional 9 pitches.
  4. Looks like Tennessee's doubleheader is tomorrow, not today.
  5. Cubs haven't scored many runs the past 9 games, but they are going against some pretty great pitching staffs. Dodgers, Cards and Mets are 3 of the top 4 in ERA. Bats should heat up soon.
  6. Great challenge! That Rizzo is one crafty player!
  7. If Schwarber were called up to play LF, wouldn't that effectively put Coughlan on the bench since they're both lefties? And Coughlan has been on a tear the past month or so. He's been one of their better hitters after a slow start. Coughlan has his deficiencies in the field, but would Schwarber be an upgrade? And I don't see a scenario where both of them are playing at the same time, especially once Soler is back, playing in RF.
  8. So do the Cubs "own" the Mets or not?
  9. This could/should also apply to those "really baseball-savy" posters who think they need to negatively comment on, what they consider, dumb posts. This isn't aimed at you TT. But why open a thread if it's started by someone you don't have much "baseball respect" for. Wouldn't it just be easier to skip the thread entirely??
  10. Justin Steele with 3 shutout innings (so far) with 4 Ks and no walks for the Emeralds.
  11. And when does Chesny Young move up to Tennessee? Seems like A ball pitching is not really fooling him. And he's already 22, 23 in a couple of months.
  12. 18 year old Gleyber Torres with another 3 for 4 night with 2 runs scored for South Bend. He is absolutely raking in single A. When is it time for him to move east to Myrtle Beach?
  13. Carson Sands with another nice outing: 5 innings, 1 R, no ER, 4 Ks, no BB.
  14. I'd imagine they'll go 'musical chairs' with the 5th spot until Wada is back. Of course, they could always try Wood again or (gulp) EJax.
  15. How does Robin Ventura keep his job?? White Sox up 4-0 in the 8th. Samardzija cruising but gives up a lead off single followed by a a full count walk (after several foul balls). After another single to load the bases, he hitsKinsler to bring in the first run. There's still no outs and the bags are juiced with Miggy at bat. Any idea at all that Jeffy might be tiring??? But Robin stays with him and he Ks Cabrera. How 'bout go to the pen now?? Nope. Victor up and he laces the first pitch fastball into the right CF gap for a bases clearing double and a tie score. Now he goes to the pen. Way to go Robin! I know the White ox bull pen isn't great, but you can't let your pitch through that inning that late in the game with a four run lead. Why not bring in Robertson in the 8th to get out of the jam with minimal runs scored and then worry about the 9th while you're still leading. Methinks the White Sox management absolutely does not want to have to fire Robin, the golden boy of the organization. But his record is pitiful since August of his first season.
  16. Link There goes the Marlins playoff hopes.
  17. I'm less concerned about Roach pitching for the Cubs than I am for Wacha pitching against the Cubs.
  18. Because I can hardly wait to see him actually pitch, does anyone have a scouting report on him? Lively fastball? Junk pitcher? Can he hit? Or at least sac bunt effectively
  19. Gleyber just went down on 3 straight pitches, the last was not even close to the strike zone. However, the announcers just raved about him saying he's the youngest player in a really competitive league.
  20. For those in the Chicago-land area, the Midwest All-Star game is on CSN Chicago Plus (665-1 on DirecTV).
  21. Andy the Clown is creepy, very Gacy-esque!
  22. Cole H. ? Edwin J. ? That old guy at AAA ?
