  1. Maybe something comparable to James Loney, Iván DeJesús, Jr., Allen Webster, and two players to be named later (like Jerry Sands and Rubby De La Rosa).
  2. This is how I feel often in games like tonight. Absolutely nothing going on for the Cubs. Just ut the game out of reach and we can all get on with our lives.
  3. Regarding FA signings, I hope Heyward is not to the Cubs what Crawford was to the Red Sox. That would be bad. Unless we could get LA to take him after struggling/slightly injured 2017.
  4. It could be a PR disaster for the Cubs, too. Sale's arm could fall of after coming to the Cubs and the Sox could get a decade and a half of majestic dongs, lofty batting averages and dating grins.
  5. How 'bout a package with Voglebach as the centerpiece.
  6. Man on third and less than two outs: the Cubs Achilles heel the last couple of months.
  7. Shoemaker is really good in Anaheim. He's really not very good everywhere else.
  8. Gerritt Cole took the day off today: 4 IP, 5/4 R/EER, 7H, 2 BB, 5 K, 80 pitches. Samardzija not much better so far: 3 IP, 4H, 5/4 R/ER, 3BB, 3K, 2 dingers allowed.
  9. Spent the day playing paintball. Left my phone in the car. Lower back is stiff. Lots of welts all over my body especially my left side. I'm exhausted. I feel a little dehydrated. It's nice to get back to the car and check the score to see the Cubs win again. Life is good.
  10. Dexter's hammy is fine. He is, however, still smarting from getting hit in the junk with that kid's whiffle bat.
  11. Maybe they're recoiling him for eventual move to the pen.
  12. Can he hit a curve? Or lay off the slider down and away? Jorge wants to know.
  13. Where's the Bosio magic. Basically, his entire pitching staff has horsefeathers the bed for a couple of weeks now. Thought he was a genius??
  14. From Cubs.com: "Fowler, voted onto his first All-Star team, began a rehab assignment Friday night at Class A South Bend and went 0-for-2 with two walks. He did not have a setback in the game, but decided he needed more time and would not be ready for Tuesday's All-Star Game......
  15. And 5-14 in their last 19. Horrid.
  16. This is as exciting to me as the slam dunk contest in the NBA. They still have that, right?
  17. Ditto. It's so much easier to watch a sucky team with dreams of them being good one day than it is to watch a very good team play sucky for an extended period of time. :(
  18. Bill Buckner is my all-time favorite Cub! Was constantly trying to emulate his batting stance with a black whiffle bat as a kid.
  19. My, how times have changed. Wonder if the Cubs will win their 60th before their 40th loss. :(
  20. Manny Trillo and Jose Cardenal were my first two favorite Cubs. Love the way Trillo gloved the ball, took it out for inspection before side-arming it to first base. And Cardenal had one hell of a fro.
  21. Matt Carpenter just pulled in the second inning and replaced by Wong. Maybe an oblique. Not good for him/them.
  22. And the Reds, too.
  23. Mike Stanton pissed he was left off the All-Star roster (not really): 2 Dongs (412 & 417 feet) and 5 RBI. Fish up on the Mets 5-2 in the bottom of the 8th. Fernando Rodney gonna try not to blow another save opportunity game for his new team, though he gave up a dong in the bottom of the 8th.
