  1. Post count padding in the first page of the third hundred.
  2. But it's not a figurehead position. He's the team president. Why on earth would they give him that much responsibility with such a poor front office background? Especially after they prized experience so highly in the selection of their GM :-k
  3. If Roberts is Hendry's idea of a big move I'm not sure I'd be willing to devote 160+ pages to the other big move.
  4. Yeah, at least DeRosa was consistent in his career year: 2006 Home - .299/.358/.441/.799 2006 Road - .293/.355/.470/.825 Byrd, on the other hand, is only coming off a career year at home, but not on the road: 2007 Home - .356/.406/.510/.916 2007 Road - .259/.304/.410/.714 Although for Byrd, maybe a .714 OPS on the road is a career year, as well. I'm pretty sure Fuld could have those numbers. ZIPS has Fuld at .261/.329/.377/.706 Now give him a year with Rudy...
  5. so your saying we should trade for Byrd then considering Derosa had continued sucess after leaving Texas. Either that or pay whatever it would take to get Rudy to come to Chicago.
  6. Not so soon - Link
  7. Hmmmmmm... that notorious hitters park ranked 18th in Runs, 17th in HR and 14th in hits last year. Now Wrigley is a hitters park, ranking 2nd, 8th and 5th respectively. ESPN - MLB Park Factors
  8. Seems like hardball to me. The White Sox have a crap farm system and that didn't stop them from getting an extremely attractive deal for Swisher, who has a contract that can only be called mind-boggling. The equivalent situation would be, if the Tigers called up the Braves to ask about Renteria, and the Braves demanded Andrew Miller and Joel Zumaya and Cameron Maybin. I mean really. What is this Pie or Colvin, Marshall or Gallagher, and Marmol or Hill nonsense we're getting from the Orioles? Does playing hardball with the Cubs mean that other GM's will accept a package from another team that is inferior to a package that the Cubs offer just to show the Cubs that they're playing hardball? And if not, what does it mean?
  9. The average leadoff hitter had a 759 OPS last year, if that stays the average the next 8 years, Soriano has a good chance of remaining average for his position. I'm pretty sure you're joking, but in case you're not, I'd like to point out that leadoff hitter isn't a position. LF is a position. Well, then if he does fall below average for leadoff hitters, they can just move him to 7th or 8th, where he'll have a better chance of actually being well above average for his position. Problem solved. Although I'm just guessing that $19MM per will be somewhat over the average salary for a 7 or 8 hitter.
  10. You left off this guy: 35 - 105 - 1.218 36 - 114 - 1.197 37 - 109 - 1.154 38 - 91 - 1.293 39 - 107 - 1.129 40 - 142 - 1.139 41 - 94 - 1.241 42 - 124 - 1.086 43 - 115 - 1.034 44 - 139 - 1.006 45 - 103 1.316 46 - 85 - 1.417
  11. How do the other GM's decide which one of them gets to rip Hendry off?
  12. I'm guessing Joe Morgan authored that, right? I'm guessing if Joe Morgan tried to read that his head would explode before he got to the end.
  13. Because you don't have Premium - it seems so much better when it's only 14 pages. :)
  14. I believe Shawon Dunston was the last one. I refuse to even acknowledge the possibility that Trachsel will be back. Even Hendry can't be that dumb, even if he's under the influence of something. Something like <--<-- ?
  15. I just started watching. You're welcome. GEOVANY SOTO!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I actually saw a bottle of the Hendry Zinfandel today at the store - it was a little out of my price range, but when they make it to the next round...
  17. Might have to bust open a bottle of <<<< in celebration
  18. But he's got a 1.319 OPS hitting in the 2 slot (and 8 AB's) :D
  19. I'm sure there are plenty of boards who have made arguments out of less. Gimme a break. There are other boards? :-$
  20. I like it better this way.
  21. Like he said (especially the thanks).
