  1. Trade for "future consideration"
  2. Mark Johnson to the 7 day DL for the ICubs to make way for a blast from the not too distant past. Matt Craig traded to Iowa from the Zephyrs.
  3. Long enough to be a minor league free agent after this year - McGehee still belongs to the Cubs for next season. Also (although I doubt it made any difference) Craig pulled an oblique on the 31st so is on the DL anyway.
  4. Isn't he a MiLB FA after this season? If so, I'd expect he leave. Oct 22
  5. Was at the game last night - Guzman looked really good. FB was 94-96, got one SO on a nasty 91 slider. Also dropped a 79 curve in for a strike on the other eventual SO victim. Oh yeah, and that Hoffpauir kid seems like he can hit. In addition to the triple, the double was originally called a HR. Both Hoffpauir and Craig had shots that hit a chain link fence above the main outfield fence. Craig's was initially called a double while Hoffpauir's was initially called a HR. After each the umps had to congregate to decide what to do, and each was called a double. Craig's shot was close to 400 ft in right center. In addition to the slugfest, the umpiring discussions dragged the game out to 3:49. Long night.
  6. "Postseason roster, here I come!" - Mark Pawelek No passport required.
  7. Craig is a minor league free agent after this year with serious blockage at his only 2 NL positions (1B and 3B). I don't know if he's in the Cubs' plans, but I would be surprised if the Cubs are in his.
  8. One month away from minor league free agency.
  9. So tonight the I-Cubs had 2 primary PH options on the bench - Dubois (1.112 OPS) or Craig (1.416 OPS AAA - 1.076 overall). Wow.
  10. And, ho-hum, Matt Craig got a chance to pinch hit in the 8th with the game tied and delivered a 2 run HR. That would be 4 HR's in 33 AAA PA's so far this year.
  11. Current temp in Las vegas for the I-Cubs is 103 - good news is the humidity is low so it only feels like 103. edit - now it's 104 at 3:50 CDT
  12. Nah, he's cooling off- tonight he started out with a HR and 2B with 3 RBI in his first 2 plate appearnaces.

The thread author column in the minor leagues forum has got a serious green tint to it now - congrats, O_O.
  14. Well, he ended up at 3-4, but don't forget that SB
  15. In addition to making his 2008 AAA debut Craig also made his 2008 debut at 3rd.
  16. Truffle Alert - Matt Craig is on his way to Iowa.
  17. Must be a hell of an organization if organizational filler can put up numbers like that. Their real prospects must be monsters.
  18. That's up to .360/.520/.570 after last night. Looking at his splits, there's not a single one with OBP < .500. If he had enough PA's to make the league leaders (he's had 3 stints on the DL), he'd be 2nd in AVG, 1st in OBP and OPS, 4th in SLG.
  19. Agree in theory, but where does he play? Move Hoffpauir to outfield? But yeah, the guy can hit and walks about every 4th PA.
  20. I bet more than a few AA pitchers would agree with you.
  21. Is .405/.583/.595/1.179 worth checking out?
  22. From the I-Cubs game notes:
  23. It's not a joke though to the best of my knowledge... So homophobia's cool then, just so long as the target actually is a [expletive]? Oh, I thought that it's not a joke because it's not remotely funny.
  24. I think his point is by walking batters you have no defense but at least throwing strikes you have one. Not when the balls land in the stands And Corey's only up every 9 batters.
  25. Chris Young is an extreme fly ball pitcher - currently he ranks last in the NL of pitchers with 20+ innings with a G/F of 0.40. He needs to stay at PETCO.
