no i think they stink because their offense is maddeningly impatient, their pitching staff is injury plagued, wild, and inconsistent, and they're run by a large, toothpick ingesting half-wit named dusty also avg. with RISP isn't a telling stat. ask bob's keeper, he's the man when it comes to that stuff. i'd still take walker a million times over grudz or neifi perez, too.

that's not the argument. this wildcat thing, i mean, if you're serious, wow. indians are human beings. their traditions and beliefs are being lampooned in football games and colleges are making millions of dollars by selling merchandise with pictures of them on it. it's because they are mascots at colleges maybe it's because those in power keep throwing their weight around. "hey can we maybe have reservations that aren't out in the middle of the desert? it's not very fun there." You do know they can leave the reservation? It isn't a prison. They aren't forced to live in squalor. i don't think it's that easy. the people who live at evergreen terrace in joliet (ok that's this HUD project close to me that's causing this huge controversy because it's this disguisting cesspool of violence, crime, and filth and congress wants the city to condemn it or buy it and the douchebag who owns it won't sell it and ugh it's a huge mess) have much choice. they just want a roof over their head. if an indian is still following the traditions that their ancestors did, maybe they are obliged to be connected to the land in some way. i'm sure they aren't upper middle class indians who wear Abercrombie that are voluntarily living in squalor, it's just not that simple.

it's because they are mascots at colleges good guess, but it's because they live on a reservation and white folks killed all their relatives and took all their land and THEN made them mascots at colleges and dressed up like them and made lots of money by putting pictures of them on t-shirts

That was my point initially, hence the title of the thread. The schools that make up the NCAA with these nicknames see nothing wrong with it, and the NCAA lets these schools continue to be a part of the association. However, when a tournament comes along the proverbial crap hits the fan. the ncaa doesn't have the balls to enforce this for a whole season, so they're doing just enough to keep indian groups happy. that's pretty weak

maybe they just don't want the name of their tribe to be the name of a sports team, i don't see what is so hard to understand about it. who are we to tell them they shouldn't be offended?

yeah, this is probably true in most cases, but i doubt the indians feel tributed to have a colorful picture of them on hats and coats and have thousands of fans do a "tomahawk chop" when andruw jones hits a double

i don't have statistics, but i think the NCAA does, because they just outlawed indian mascots in postseason sporting events

the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians don't seem to mind. I can't speak for natives in other necks of the woods but around here they don't care and I know a good many and am 1/16th myself. i think the mississippi band of choctaw indians is in the minority when it comes to native americans' stand on this

Well context clues in this thread also tell me that you seem to have some sort of self-loathing for you own race, constantly referring to "the white people" what else are the white people supposed to be called? because there's nothing more politically correct than "caucasian", and we all know your stance on political correctness

Alright then, so why were they named after these tribes if not for tributes? I guess in your view MC was named Choctaws so the "white people" could always remember how badly we conquered these people, is that it? yeah i'm sure the indians feel nothing but pride when they see some 20 year old dork dressed up like one of them at halftime of the big game
