  1. How about a completely different thought: Instead of points for the non-exempt players, how about losing a draft pick tied to performance...for example, if you have Pujols and he earned 780 fantasy points, it would cost the owner a 1st round pick to keep Pujols. If a player has 200 fantasy points, then it would cost the owner, say a 5th round pick. I don't have an idea of the compensation for keeping a player based on performance (this would have to be determined). I think this would simplify things. It would also put a premium exempt players since it does not cost a draft pick to keep. In addition, this would make the draft more interesting since the owners will only be able to keep 1 first round talent unless they have more first rounders.

  8. I don't think free agency is going to work since we still have the major league phase of the draft coming up. I recall in NSBB keeper league where we did the prospect draft but this was done after the June draft in order to have some sort of order since we have no idea when cbssports was going to add players to the pool...this made it a free for all. My suggestion is don't have prospect draft until after the 2010 June draft. Any players on the MLB or minor league rosters are up for drafting in our major league phase of the draft whether they are on the cbssports database or not. For example, Aroldis Chapman is currently a free agent while Shelby Miller of STL is not on the database. If owners are inclined to pick these players during the major league phase of the draft then they can. However, Bryce Harper cannot be drafted since he has not been drafted by any team. We didn't have a prospect draft last year, thus the reason we are now doing it at the beginning of the year. It was set up was that all players in the last years amateur draft were not available to be picked up preventing the free for all. In fact I think we had a freeze on adding players to the minor league roster at that point as well using just a draft process to add players rather than simply adding players once they became available. I think the current process works the best as we still have to take into account players signing, being added to the database, etc that waiting until June doesn't work as well as it does at the beginning of the season. Plus it really doesn't matter if you add a recently drafted player until now anyways as he won't attribute any points a couple of months after being drafted. Ok, makes sense. So is it ok to draft a minor leaguer even though he is not in the cbssports database (i.e. Shelby Miller)?

  10. I will be without internet access from late afternoon Friday (19th) until Sunday morning (21st). I will be helping take care of my Dad who just started chemo for stage 4 lung/throat cancer. Good luck... My mother in law just had a kidney transplant while my brother in law (40 years old) just had quintuple by pass surgery...
  11. Sorry, a few more questions. 1) how many rounds? 2) if I have seven minor leaguers, can i only participate in 3 rounds or can I continue to draft even if I have more than 10 minor leagues but must drop to get to 10? 1) How ever many rounds are necessary to fill rosters. Probably no more than 5. 2) You can only get up to 10 minor leaguers, as all rosters must be legal. Thanks

  13. What are the rules of the prospect draft - who are eligible? What is the order? Thanks
  14. Minor leaguers don't count towards the cap, but they must meet eligibility requirements. I doubt that Milledge does meet those requirements. Once a batter has 200 or more ABs in a seaon, then they are not minor league eligible. Once the season starts and he is actually on a minor league roster, then you can stash him in the minors. But Milledge had over 500 AB's two years ago. He has to be on your major league roster or dropped. Karen has room on her exempt/non-exempt roster so Milledge can move there...
  15. I dropped mine in the post Friday.
  16. All the best, Mark...

  18. Hello, all. I just took over one of the bad teams over the last couple of years. I played a few years ago with Tim, Juan, Raw, et al in the NSBB keeper league (which is still going on) but most of the principals ditched. I am working on getting the roster legal before the 15th so give me time to review the mess I inherited. We can give you an extension if needed. I got your message but I am pretty time starved - if you can read the rules and post your questions here, it might go faster. The 15th should still be fine. I am familiar with most of the rules. I do have a questions about Francisco Liriano. 2009 was is 4th year; however, year 1, he only pitched 23 innings. Does this first year qualify as exempt - if not, then Liriano is exempt in 2010; otherwise, he is non-exempt. Can I get a clarification? I think it depends on his number of starts the first year, but he should still be exempt. Actually, he is, because regardless, he had 4 starts. If it were starts, I think it'd be 5. Ok...he is exempt because he had 4 starts in his first year...that helps...
