  1. I have Tejada on the block for a SP (pref a #1) plus a 3B (better production than "the gods of walk"). So far I have had two offers from Tim but only one stands out (for a SP). I am sure there are better offers out there so I will keep it open until the week is out then make a counter to Tim or pull Tejada from the market
  2. No worries. I'm still interested in working out a trade. Let me know if you're interested in a counter offer. I did the same thing with the sheffield for Maggs and Shields deal. I wanted to reject this deal and accept the Sheffield for Colon deal but oh well. I think it still fairly close to a fair deal in the long term but I would have preferred a SP.
  3. If Cubs pitchers retire the next 9 in order, we don't have to face Pujols and Rolen again until tomorrow...{wishful thinking}
  4. or not available until the next period. I don't think the site has that option yet. How about maximum number of innings per period or for the year?

  7. He went to a junior college before being drafted. He was highly touted but not that high as he was in the 80's or 90's when BA did their top 100 list before Pujols busted out in the majors.
  8. I heard something that MLB requires teams to have a certain number of starters in the lineup every day. That could be why A-Ram got his one AB and then left the game. For a typical ST game, I believe a team requires 4 players that played in the major league last year to keep the fans entertained; however, this rule was relaxed this year because of the WBC; hence, the Giants not having a lot yesterday plus they were a split squad playing against Team USA.
  9. If the picture of Z is this ST, he looks really good.

  11. One big difference is the amount of money that the Phillies picked up ($22m) vs what the Cubs picked-up (don't remember how much but much less than $22m).
  12. I would not say I am disappointed with Blasko, Hagerty and Christensen...I would say it was unlucky because all three suffered serious injuries and all did well before the injuries and have not recovered fully after surgery.
  13. Ole Miss: One theory is that most Sox fans are viewed as hard, blue-collar workers while most Cub fans are viewed as white collar workers. Another theory is that most Sox fans are viewed as knowlegeable baseball fans while most Cub fans only attend Wrigley field for the party atmosphere. IMHO, it is not a rivalry of baseball teams or competitiveness or sports but it is personal... ...and by the way, I WISHED I went to Ole Miss...maybe in another life.
  14. I could not find any stories about Ruhlman signing; however, it looks like Jon Mueller has been signed after a visit to Wrigley Field instead of going back of U of Minn. http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2005/09/08/sports/00lead.txt
  15. I wonder what kind of haul the Cubs could get for Nomar? Would Nomar still be considered a Type A free agent if the Cubs do offer him arb? I don't the Cubs would but I was wondering. I heard on either the Score or ESPN that Nomar was not put through waivers. Really? That would make me think that Hendry would either want him back or thought the injury would last longer or be too bad to trade. Can the Cubs still put him on waivers since tomorrow is the deadline? I am not sure if the Cubs can put him on waivers before tomorrow but I was surprised to hear he was not put on waivers.

  17. This is very helpful - thanks! Also, there are 2 kinds of waivers, right? Revocable (the ability to pull the player back) and Irrevocable (player automatically gone if claimed with no ability to pull back). Is that correct? That 2nd category, irrevocable - isn't that what Boston did to Manny Ramirez a year or two ago, and nobody claimed him? I thought I heard Steve Stone mentioned last week that all the waivers have occurred (one was done on Wednesday and one on Thursday) - the 48th hour window will close Friday and today. I don't know where to find players that have been placed on waivers, claimed, not claimed, pulled back, etc.
  18. I believe that comment is uncalled for!!!!
  19. Williamson has pitched a few innings in Mesa.
