  1. Wolf, It's a great day when I see one of your posts. Not necessarily because of the content of the post, but because the girl in your avatar is smok'en hot. Wilmo I do what I can to brighten everyone's day. I agree...who is she?
  2. It could have been underhanded. He was not throwing baseballs...he was throwing towels.
  3. Most likely scenario is A-Rod opts out of his contract (I think he has an out at the end of this year) and signs as a FA with the Cubs.
  4. Defense is overrated. so are pitching and offense Truffle: Off topic, have you seen this video of Josie: http://www.vidmax.com/index.php/videos/view/736
  5. you can use the control key in add/drop to drop them all at once. why was the deadline extended again? I would have thought you could, but that trick doesn't work for me. I click a name, hold ctrl, then when I click another the first one goes clear again. I had to drop the players one by one...pretty annoying. It worked last year.

  8. Absolutely! I use the same rules for rookie elibility as MLB (minus the time on roster criteria). The criteria are: Eligibility requirements were set forth in 1971 and a rookie was formally defined as a player with less than one-hundred thirty at-bats, a pitcher with less than fifty innings pitched, or anyone with less than forty-five days on any Major League roster. Each player gets three exemption years. So the year they exceed the rookie numbers from above is year one. They then have two remaining exemptions. So if I understand your question above, it is the three years completed option. If you have any questions on a player, just post them here and I'll answer. There is no injured list in the offseason. The minor league roster is separate, but the players must still be short of the above criteria to be stashed on a minor league roster. No sweat! Thanks for the recap. I did mine already. Can you check to make sure I did not violate any rules.
  9. This comment pretty much sums up the status of the Cubs farm system. If Callis thinks that the best prospect is a future reliever, then there are not much impact players down on the farm.
  10. Tim: Can you go over the rules again? How many IP or AB is considered one year? Is the exemption for the third year (2 years completed) or the fourth year (3 years completed)? How do we treat injured players at the end of the year? Do we identify the minor leaguers as keepers or just the players under 1800 points? Thanks.
  11. I know he has been injured since starting with the Cubs but I did not realize he has fallen so far from the prospects list. According to BA, he is considered a second round bust and is not even listed in the top 30 or the list of considered prospects...ouch. Besides for injuries, what has happened to him?
  12. I thought this was funny, but George Soros is/was associated with Carlyle and he doesn't really fit the mold. There are also several former Clinton administration people who are associated with them. They're DC all the way. The Cubs would be an interesting little plaything for them; they probably know less about us than the average Cardinals fan. This is a disaster of epic proportions if it happens. From a baseball standpoint, yes, but from an investment standpoint they would make a crap load of money.
  13. I like the rule change even though this loophole help me win last year. It is only fair to limit the number of pitching starts per week. It would have been better to limit the number of innings but tracking it would be horrendous.
  14. I am back in...I have to defend the title.
  15. I think Lou does not like his work ethics. I read this somewhere but can't find the link.
  16. Not sure if this has been posted...but if the Marlins can get Upton for Nolasco as the centerpiece, it would make me boil at bit. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20061211&content_id=1759571&vkey=hotstove2006&fext=.jsp
  17. I don't want to play...the last time I was given a choice between Cubs pitching prospects was between Zambrano and Cruz... I said to keep Cruz and trade Zambrano. If I was GM, I would have been Ed Lynched. Ahh, since I am already on the keyboard, I like Guzman.
  18. I think its more than that. I think there is a rule that you have to wait a certain amount of time before trading draft picks. One full year after signing the pick. True but I recalled a few years ago which had a player within the one year after being drafted named as a PTBNL. Once the year expired, the player was announced. I think it was Bonderman?
  19. I heard on Mike on Mike this morning that a Manny to SF trade is hot and heavy. There were no mention of names but Mike casually said it during the McGwire HOF debate.
  20. I'm not worried about money or years. Just get it done. Easy for you to say, it's not your money..:P
  21. I like the Drew and Dunn (with Hudson) options but I would stay away from the Dunn (with Milton) - I would rather keep Murton and spend the money elsewhere because Milton is just plain bad, and the A-Rod (with Pavano) - A-Rod I like very much but to add Pavano and his contract would just not be worth it - Pavano's and Wright's contract were the worst of the bad contracts I have ever seen (I am sure there are others but these were just awful).
  22. Or Glendon Rusch, Neifi Perez, etc. etc. etc.
  23. Tim: Now that the season is done, does the points continue to rack up or does it stop when our season ended for the purposes of determining the non-exempt players? Thanks.
