I have been reading this board a long time. That being said, this is probably one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever read here. Actually, here or on any of many other baseball boards I read. I'm guessing that you are not a Chicago resident or if you are, probably not born here. Call it ridiculous and put your blinders on but I live on the South Side and the hate towards Sammy and Frank Thomas from Sox fans based on race is voiced even to this day, even with both of them out of Chicago. It is just a sad reality of life in Chicago. Racism runs deep, especially on the South Side. I'm giving you my observation of one reason why Sox fans hate Sammy, I'm not condoning it or maintaining that it is the only reason they hate him.

He hasn't escaped suspicion at all, there have been plenty of questions about him. The funny thing about Clemens is he is kind of a jerk also. He holds his team hostage the last couple of years with is he going to play or not? If he is going to play who for? If Bonds or Sosa was doing this kind of stuff could you imagine the disdain they would be getting from fans and ESPN. Somehow with Clemens its ok. As for White Sox fans hating Sosa, they are just bitter baseball fans for some reason. Even in winning the WS they still have serious North Side envy. Sosa was the face of North Side baseball for over ten years. Couple that with steriod suspicion and cork bat usage they feel justified in their disdain. Somehow they overlook the fact that their DH and RF probably have just as much evidence for steriod use as Sammy. Not only that but racism plays a factor in Sox fans hatred of Sammy. Especially from the white south side neighborhoods and suburbs. Most of the same people hating on Sammy would hate Frank Thomas also.

He's obviously watching too much of Stuart Scott on ESPN.

Don't know if this was raised in this thread. I personally would like to see Don Levin buy the Cubs, then build a nice new retro stadium and move the Cubs out of Wrigley Field sticking Zell with a piece of property that he can't develop.

I saw the movie today - it was very good, you guys did a great job, Windy City. About the only bad thing I can say about the film was that Bernie Mac was in it. His two scenes should have been cut out. It was fun to relive the excitement in the stands and in the streets during that series win over the Braves. Seeing it on the big screen just made it more impressive. One thing I know Cub fans have over WSox fans is a great passion for their team. I just don't see this type of film coming from a Sox fan. I went to see the film at the AMC theater in Barrington this afternoon. I got to the theater a couple minutes before the start time. There were commercials on the screen and a few minutes later the film started. The scene was Matt talking to Lofton after he was just traded to the Cubs. So I waited a couple of minutes for the operator to realize the mistake and re-start the film. The film kept going and I walked out to the find a manager. I told her what happened and she called the booth and they told her that the film started on time - 12:55, which I wasn't disputing. I explained to her that there were no opening credits and that the film just picked up at a point which would have been halfway through the season and therefore the movie. Again, she called the booth and told them to check the movie. The same reply came back. So I told her to give me my money back and I went to see it at The Music Box. The frustrating part was that neither the manager or the operator did not want to bother to even look at the screen.

Oh thank god. Assume that Colts will wear white & white? Yeah, the Colts will wear their white uniforms-although I'd love to see all the casual fans watching the Super Bowl who would have no idea what was really going on if the Colts wore their blues :D Why don't the Colts have blue pants? They'd look sharp. I think the white jersey/pants combination looks great for the Colts, the blue pants, too gimmicky.

I'd say there is a good chance. Only 2 other attractive games with playoff implications - Atlanta/Philadelphia and KC/Jacksonville.

Between this thread and the Prior thread, I'm reminded again how much I hate this front office and how they sucked the joy out of watching the Cubs the last 2 seasons.

He should have thought about his future with the Cubs when he was penciling in Neifi! in the #2 slot everyday. Who cares what he thinks...good riddance.

The Tribune is as much to blame for this mess as Hendry, MacPhail, Himes, Lynch etc. Just because they allowed the budget to go up to $100 million does not let them off the hook. They could easily have allowed Hendry & MacPhail to go higher to get the elite FAs but did nothing. On the other hand, they should have been able to recognize that MacPhail was not going to get the job done and replaced him a long time ago. I'm afraid this mess is not going to stop until the Tribune sells the Cubs. The whole house is a wreck and needs to be cleaned out.

I assume you mean AL. Well, the Sox blew it, so I guess it was the Tiger's turn. Yeah I did mean the AL. I don't think the Sox necessarily blew anything since the Tigers were in control of the AL Central the whole year. The Sox blew a pretty big WC lead at the All-Star break.

I love that they choked away a 10 game WC lead at the All-Star break.
