  1. But, Raw it only matters that the Bears have played a weak schedule, just ask the experts. Anyways, 10 more minutes!!
  2. WOW, you guys just couldnt give me a couple mins to get those deleted huh :P Yea I hit submit and it didnt do anything so I hit it again, then again, then again, then again, but I got the 5th one deleted before you guys decided to butt in lol. So anyways Go Bears!
  3. LETS GO BEARS! LETS GO BEARS! LETS GO BEARS! Damn I cant wait for this game to start. Im so damn tired of hearing about how terrible the Bears schedule is and how great Carolina is. Im not trying to take anything away from Carolina but what about their WEAKER schedule? If the "experts" are going to talk crap about the bears schedule, doesnt it also make since to talk crap about the Panthers? I guess not  Heres to Orton not making any mistakes, Jones rushing for over a 100, and the Bears front 4 getting 4 sacks and 2 picks from the Bears secondary!!

  7. Thanks CPatt.
  8. Hmm and to think all the things I tried today thinking it was just my computer being its normal stupid self. Could somebody give me the emergency forum I cant remember it and was looking for it today to see if it was my problem or a site problem. Thanks guys, and good work Tim.
  9. Completly agree, but I have DirecTV but the point still remains the same.
  10. I understand what you are saying completely, however I think there has to come a point and time where you start ruling out it was all luck when it continues to happen over and over and over again.
  11. There has been nobody in this thread that has said Jocketty is head and shoulders above Hendry. The question was brought up as how can Cards fans "trust Jocketty to find something" and me along with I believe some others are just saying they can trust their GM to find something because he has done it in the past with players nobody else wanted. You can say Larussa is the difference maker to a point, but Jocketty is the person that obviously seen something in players such as Eckstein, Rodriguez, Nunez to bring them in when nobody else wanted them. Yes it helps to have a manager that might put these players in a position to succeed, but Jocketty is the one evaluating the talent. I find that a completely self-serving analysis based on the history of those players. In other words, nothing they had done previously indicated that they would play as well as they did. Sometimes luck is involved, and Jocketty and co. have been lucky with some of those players. By contrast, IMO, Hendry has taken fliers on similar types and it hasn't gone well. That, at least in part, is Dusty's resposnibility as well. First off, I dont see what is so self-serving about my post but oh well I guess. Secondly, while luck definatly is involved, why couldnt it have also just been that Jocketty seen something in these players that would fit in well with his team. Where as maybe Hendry tried getting similar players and it hasnt gone as well, maybe, just maybe that could be Hendry seen something in these players but was wrong about them. Which would go right back to talent evaluation mainly among position players. Isnt it a possibility that the reason we havent been able to develop any position players, and the "fliers" that Hendry has taken a chance on that havent worked out as well as the Cards, comes down to the fact that maybe Hendry just isnt a good postion player talent evaluater? I am not saying Hendry is a terrible GM in no means, but some of the types of players he keeps signing or re-signins really has to make you wonder about his position player talent evaluation ability.

  13. I don't know if you can honestly be satisfied with "he'll figure something out." Just read this thread - that's what we thought last year with our LF situation. Quality GM or not, the Cubs and Cardinals both share quite the black hole in the outfield this offseason. I don't really understand why you're "working on pitching" either, I don't see any reason to dump Marquis, and finding a fifth starter shouldn't be so overwhelming it takes your eyes off the prize. I think its quite understandable why the Cards fans are saying they have faith in Jocketty figuring something out. I mean when your team consistently picks up people that are worthless everywhere else(Nunez, Rodriguez, Luna, Eckstein not worthless but certainly wasnt wanted by anybody else etc....) and they perform for your team why wouldnt they have faith in Jocketty figuring something out. Where as us as Cubs fans plug in somebody comparable or supposedly better and our guy completely flops or gets injured. Cards fans should have faith in Jocketty until he fails to provide them a winner, and Cubs fans are well within reason to be questioning Jim Hendry.
  14. Vance, did I miss something or what but where is Jerome Williams? Id much rather have him as our #5 than Rusch. I dont think you had him traded in your original scenerio so I was just wondering. I also would rather have Williams as a number five. My guess is Williams is either in AAA waiting for an injury to the rotation or has been used in a trade. With the way our roster has shaken out so far, if I'm the GM I'm shopping Williams in a deal for a bat. If we ship out Williams, we'd better get a good bat out of the deal. I don't want to watch him become another Willis or Moyer. Exactly!! Williams has a ton of potential and if we trade him it better be for a potent bat and not just some minor person.
  15. I don't see anything that talks glowingly of Leicester in that article. They basically said it was a 40-man roster move, but a rather unimaginative one. They could have dumped Macias, or kept Neifi off the list, or gotten rid of plenty of other worthless players to clear 40 man space. They could have kept Neifi off the roster, but signed him after the 40 man draft. Ok fair enough. After reading it a couple more times I agree with what their point was. For some reason the first time I read it they just came off to me as really puffing up Leicaster. But I agree about plenty of other ways to clear the 40 man.
  16. Vance, did I miss something or what but where is Jerome Williams? Id much rather have him as our #5 than Rusch. I dont think you had him traded in your original scenerio so I was just wondering.
  17. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=4612#CHN Wow, that must have been written by Jon Leicasters mom or somebody, because whoever wrote it thinks Leicaster is great. I just think whoever wrote that really over values Jon Leicaster but hey thats just me.
  18. YUCK YUCK YUCK!! So that means we are probably trading Jerome. The trade of Williams better bring in a big time bat because having Rusch as our #5 is asking for problems. Id 100x's rather have Jerome. As 5th starters go, what makes you so sure that Rusch is so terrible? Going back to 2004, he was quite good for a 5th starter and last season, out of 19 starts only 4 or 5 of them were bad. The rest were quite good. I know Glendon's numbers from last season overall were nothing to write home about, but if you look more closely, he was great in April and May and the first week or so of June and then he lost something. His numbers were down the rest of June, all of July and August, but whatever it was that was off, he fixed it because in September, he was back to performing like he was in 2004. If it is accurate that Glendon figured out what was wrong in the middle part of last season and fixed it, then he would be a 5th starter capable of posting an ERA in the mid-3s or even lower. Now, that might not be accurate. I guess we will have to find out. With the injuries on our pitching staff the last few years I would rather have somebody who has more upside then Glendon Rusch. So just in case one of our starters goes down then suddenly instead of Rusch being a decent #5 now he is a not so good #3 or 4. I also really like Jerome Williams plain and simple. I think he could be a very very good #5 for this team. I dont like the idea of Jerome out of the bullpen though, and I feel if they go into spring training with Rusch vs Williams as the # 5 that Williams would probably have to greatly outpitch Rusch because Dusty likes having a lefty in the rotation. But like I said if they decide to trade Williams I hope they get fair value(which too me is him being packaged with some others for a BIG bat) because I think Jerome has a bright future and will in my opinion definatly be a better pitcher than Rusch. I also see noway that Rusch puts up under a 4 ERA over a full season, and it will probably be more around 4.50 or so. But thats just my opinion.
  19. The problem with Rusch being long relief is there is no room for him in the pen unless we trade somebody from that group. Eyre Ohman Dempster Novoa Williamson Wuertz RH setup guy that Hendry has said he wants to get Thats 7 men in the pen right there. Once again I will ask where in the hell does Rusch fit in on this team.
  20. YUCK YUCK YUCK!! So that means we are probably trading Jerome. The trade of Williams better bring in a big time bat because having Rusch as our #5 is asking for problems. Id 100x's rather have Jerome.
  21. Maybe Ohman is now expendable/trade bait? It's safe to say that Hendry feels Eyre will compliment Ohman (or vice versa). Daily Hearld: http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=122715 Thats good to hear as I think Ohman can be a very valuable guy in our pen. However I dont understand the fact that we are going to have 3 lefties in our bullpen(Rusch, Eyre, Ohman). I just hope this doesnt mean Rusch is our 5th starter, but Ive got a pretty bad feeling that that is going to be the case. Now it's sounds like Williams could be the possible trade bait or Williams & Rusch will both be starters going into ST until they know how KW is progressing from his off-season shoulder surgery. Well, quite frankly I dont like the idea of trading Williams unless its for a big time bat. I love Jeromes upside and hes only 23 and had success at the ML level. If they do trade him I hope its for a proven big time slugger cause if its not Id rather keep him. I'm with you on that one. My guess is that JW & GR will be fighting it out in ST for the 5th spot in the rotation. What happens when JW wins it and if Wood stays healthy? Starters: Prior Z Woody Maddux (I hated this option year given to him) Williams Bullpen: Wuertz Ohman Eyre Dempster Novoa Williamson Howry (whomever/Hendry has said he's going after a Righty setup) That's with a 7 man pen. Why on God's green earth did we resign Glendon Rusch? That has been my main concern with this signing. If we hadnt re-signed Rusch and then signed Eyre then i would have no questions about this signing. However, if Wood stays healthy then I have no clue what the point of Rusch being on this team is. When is the earliest we can trade Rusch?

  23. Was that necessary? huh? sorry, i have no idea who the hell he is, i'd never heard of him. I think he's referring to the post Cheesehead made asking Roast to not use the lords name in vain. However I did get a good laugh out of your post about who the hell he was.

  25. The Vikings offense scored 3 points last week. Go Bears! I'm calling the upset. I understand the Vikes offense only scored 3 points last week. But just because the offense doesnt score doesnt mean they havent been playing better as a whole, and just because they scored 3 points on offense as a Bears fan we all know that the win is all that matters because our offense hasnt been putting up numbers either. But I to will pick a Bears upset 14-10
