  1. I am on Barrett b/c he is responsible for the lack of production in the middle of the order this year and is a horrific defensive catcher. Barrett and Murton have both been thrown out at 3b more this year than all the others combined. Why we have a catcher get thrown out stealing 3b 2 times in a week is a mystery i would like solved. Murton is just a lack of concentration. I also used to be on Alou. Stupid baserunning is stupid baserunning. Doesnt matter who is doing it. There is so much hyperbole in that statement that Im not even going to try arguing.
  2. Pagan .294/.357/.867 Murton .259/.338/.683 DeRosa .264/.347/.790 and .222/.300/.633 v. Washburn Higher avg, obp and ops. Better chance to score in front of DLee. Batting DeRosa later so him and Theriot can team up possibly for more offense after Murton and Barrett get thrown out on the basepaths. You just wont get off Murton or Barret. You act like they are the only ones on this team who has made numerous baserunning mistakes. Lee, Derosa, Theriot, and Soriano have made more than one this year as well, but you just keep seeing what you want to see if it makes you feel better. Also, you list Pagans stats as if they mean something. How many AB's has he had? Minus his first week up where he was killing the ball, hes went back to the below average player he is.
  3. Any info on Jason Smith from Colorado St? Supposedly the Bulls are looking at him as a possibility with the #9 pick.
  4. When the difference is as drastic as it is in this instance, it's not worthless by any means. So has Barret just suddenly became terrible then or what? Cause his past with Zambrano is pretty darn good.
  5. It's not that they've performed better, it's that they've gotten a chance to perform. But even that has been out of a lot of necessity for Lou. Lou should get more credit than that. He still has the option to play JJ over Pie in CF and Izturis over Theriot or Fontenot at either MI position. Dusty would have forced the veterans even when it seemed like it wasn't possible, by plugging Macias at any position. Fine, but it would be hard to play the young guys any less than Dusty played them, so I don't know how much credit there is to give. Lou is better at it than Dusty, but being better than the worst isn't exactly a benchmark to get too excited about. Lou still doesn't give Murton the playing time he should be getting to develop, he still plays Izturis far more than he should, and if you recall, Pie was sent back down for a chunk of time because Lou was hardly playing him. It's only when the veterans are very clearly failing to produce that he's gone to the young guys, and even then the vets still get a good amount of starts. Pie stopped playing because the player in front of him was out-playing him. The same has happened to Murton until the last week (Jones should not be starting consistently in front of him, but Floyd has been better). As far as Izturis-yes, Izturis has started more in the last month than would have liked, but a lot of that was due to necessity-Theriot has had to play another position quite a bit over that time due to injury/days off/etc. Izturis has started 19 times out of the last 29 games. If you take all the days that Theriot was not playing another position and could have replaced him, that takes away 7 of those starts. Sprinkle in 3 off days for Theriot during that time, and it means that Izturis has started a total of 4 times where he wasn't either an injury replacement or giving a day off to Theriot in the last month. 4 games like that is a little annoying, but not a big deal. As far as even when the young guys who are producing still give up a fair amount of starts to the veterans, I disagree with that as well. Pie has started 9 games in a row now. When Theriot was producing, he was getting just as many starts as DeRosa was. When they stopped producing is when the veterans started stealing their starts again. First of who is outplaying Murton in RF? Secondly, when was Murton given the amount of starts in a row like Jones has been given to try and find it?
  6. Seriously this lineup is a joke. Why not give Floyd the start since hes back with the team? Or how bout that red headed guy buried in the damn corner underneath all the balls and bat bags?
  7. Carlos Gomez or Fernando Martinez don't appeal to you? :D Yeah, I know, that's unrealistic. I'm hoping the Cubs could get this guy, this guy, or this guy in a deal. A B-level pitching prospect would be fine by me. I didn't check out your links, but if any of those guys have two arms and a pulse, I'll take 'em. Hell Id settle for an arm in a half, Im sure Jim Abbot is free
  8. Well if there was ever a time for Z to show hes the ace of this team its tonight. He needs to go 8 innings and preferably 9 if at all possible. If bad Z is on the mound again tonight, then hes getting sacrificed and staying in the game no matter what.
  9. Theriot is not very good defensively at SS and cant handle it over the long haul (arm and range). That said, he is an excellent sub. I would love to see DeRosa shopped and have Fontenot, Izturis, and Theriot switching out in the middle. DeRosa with JJ or MM might bring an upgrade in the pen or bring us the decent catcher we sorely need. Yes, by all means, let's shop the guy with the .800 OPS and 4th highest OBP on the team (among guys with over 100 ABs), who by the way is making just about 4M per season for a bullpen arm or a 2nd no-hit all glove catcher to go with Blanco. i agree with AG. The bat that Theriot brings for as cheap as he is, is infinitely more valuable than the supposed great defense of Izturis (who's defense i find merely average at this point in his career). I think Izturis is the one that should be shopped here, as made obvious by the fact that well, he sucks. psst, you know hes talking about Derosa, right?
  10. yeah, i'm a little disappointed in lou right there. extremely disappointed. noway should he allow that crap without going off
  11. I don't think so. Lilly pretty much maintained his puppy dog face that he always has the whole time, and none of the camera shots seemed to show him saying anything. Nope it was because the ump "knew" he threw at him.
  12. This isnt over. Something else is going to happen in this game. But Lou is a fraking pansy ass for just letting his team get screwed.
  13. Now Renteria hits Fontenot with a forearm while sliding.
  14. So I guess if you walk towards the mound then you can get the guy ejected, but if you just take your base like Soriano then you can stay in the game. Lou better play this game under protest.
  15. How is Lou not losing his mind. No warnings before the game and hes ejected? This is crap. Freaking bs.
  16. Lilly hit Renteria first pitch, and now got kicked out.
  17. Lilly kicked out? WTF that is absolute bs
  18. Good job Lily way to back up your team.
  19. Indeed. What happened? Hudson beaned Soriano on the first pitch of the game last night. Pretty obvious it was intentional. Now why would Hudson do that? Sarcasm I hope right?
  20. Indeed. What happened? Hudson beaned Soriano on the first pitch of the game last night. Pretty obvious it was intentional. Well, just for the record. Soriano didn't get "beaned"....He was hit on the upper arm. That is how a rumor quickly becomes fact. Intentional? I have no doubt. But he didn't get "beaned"...The arm and the coconut are two different body parts. When somebody gets hit by a pitch Ive always said he got beaned.
  21. You are right, who in their right mind would want an owner that has turned his organization from a joke to a contender. I also wouldnt want an owner that has consistently got his teams into the playoffs. Who would want this guy jeesh hes a joke.
  22. I doubt that has anything to do with Lee or Floyd endorsing him. Lee just got his big contract, and Floyd knows hes getting up there in age, and nobody would be willing to give him a big contract. It has more to do with Cubans relationships with his players, and his devotions to his team.
  23. Indeed. What happened? Hudson beaned Soriano on the first pitch of the game last night. Pretty obvious it was intentional.
