  1. Not that the order of the rotation matters much, but no it shouldnt.
  2. Barrett has done nothing for the Padres since that trade. He has bascially done nothing all year. And same goes for Bowen, and hes never done anything at the Major league level, where as barret has. Bowen as a Cub- 2 for 20. 050/200/050. His OPS is 250. Hell Neifi had a higher OBP as Bowen had OPS. bowen isn't good, but he isn't this bad. Are you positive about that? Cause Im not so sure
  3. Its reached that level hasnt it, that says it all.

  5. Well so where is Bowens value? Cant hit, and cant throw
  6. Man, the bottom of our order just looks so scary, I dont see how the pitcher can quit shaking long enough to throw a pitch to them
  7. The Cubs can't control what the Brewers do - only try and win their own games. I'll take 11-5 every 16 games for the rest of the season. 8-) LA, AZ, and ATL don't impress me very much. If we just concentrate on winning in July, I wouldn't be a bit suprised to see us jump on top of that wild card race. The Crew probably won't slow down, they're real good, are getty Cappy back, have an easy schedule, hit really well, blah blah. Too many reasons I can think of they won't slide. Hope they do, but I'm not counting on it. Not winning the division doesn't have to be the death knell of our season, though. Don't worry, Sheets will go down eventually. There are plenty of reasons to think the Brewers will fail in the 2nd half but hoping that a SP who has had one major injury in past 7 years is probably not the proper reason. Just because it spanned the end of one season and the start of another does not make him injury prone. 1 major injury? Not injury prone? Ben Sheets injury info: - In 2005, he was put on the disabled list with a muscle tear in his upper back. - In 2004, he had postseason surgery on his back to repair a herniated disk. - In 2001, he was put on the disabled list with tendinitis in his right rotator cuff. And thats not including the shoulder problems hes had in 2006.
  8. Back to your jokes again? The gold glove part yes but Theriot is as good as Cedeno and has shown inconsistent brilliance at second and short but the gold glove is a joke. wrong. Theriot never put up the numbers in AAA that Cedeno is putting up at a much younger age. Inconsistent brilliance? Right whatever man
  9. Something is wrong here... Awesome! That's a 9:05 am start out here. :( whats wrong with that I get off work at 7:10 am central time?lol
  10. Hes decent
  11. Seriously he is locked in wow. Where the hell is all this power coming from? The last four games have been in Albuquerque (4500' up), so 3 of his 10 HRs might have been aided by the elevation. Ok that makes some sense then. Whats his OPS up to now? 1.109. LMAO, do our major league SS's equal that if you add them up(minus Fontenot). Theriot and Izturis combined is probably around 1.2 right?lol CALL HIM UP
  12. I think "one pitch" bounces back and has a Ted Lilly like outing. RFK being huge will help Rich out quite a bit as he can get away with a hanger here or there.
  13. So true. As soon as I got to RFK Stadium and saw our lineup flash on the scoreboard, I knew any sort of W would be gladly taken. Lou must've figured that with now-minor league washout Tim Redding on the mound (vs. Z), scratching out 3-4 runs would be doable even without Ram. Another huge pro-Cubs crowd...tonight I'd say it was closer to 45-50%, definitely an even better Northside showing than yesterday. Only negative from tonight IMO is Derrek- the guy's swing just doesn't feel right. Driving every single ball right into the ground with little burst whatsoever. When you watch him swing, you don't even get the sense that 6 HRs in July is abnormal. That's how 'off' he seems to me. PS Marmol is absolutely filthy. The Nats fans (who of course had no clue who Carlos was) couldn't believe how badly he embarassed Belliard in the 7th with men on, the key AB of the game. Yea I got the feeling there was quite a few Cubs fans there tonight when it looked like the crowd gave Z a standing O when he was leaving.
  14. So Im guessing DeRo is in RF tomorrow night, and Pagan in CF again since its a lefty ugh. Glad Aram will be back the lineup doesnt look nearly the same without him.

  16. Who says it has to be one or the other? Theriot would be a nice super-util guy off the bench. He's not starter quality. True. Trouble is, neither is Cedeno. Or Izzy. They're all benchies, and we have to start one of them. How do you know for sure Cedeno isnt starting quality? Because as a 22 year old in his first year in the majors he sucked? Cedeno is still young enough to be a quality starting SS in the majors.
  17. Something is wrong here... I see it, I see it!
  18. Seriously he is locked in wow. Where the hell is all this power coming from?
  19. Thanks for the help Jake! Now tell your boys to steal another tomorrow, and then lay down for us come the weekend ok?
  20. With the players we have on this team, Cedeno not being able to play the OF is meaningless. We already have plenty of OF's and Theriot will not see time in the Cubs OF, so why should it matter if Cedeno can play there? Cedeno has more upside at SS then anybody else on our current roster plain and simple.
  21. I thought I read today that he is starting tommorow Excellent. Bruce said in another thread that Lou and the coaches are working hard with Felix to get him to improve mechanically before they start giving him regular PT again. Just like they fixed Murton? No, the opposite actually. Murton changed his mechanics over the winter, and the coaching staff wanted him to change back to what he was doing at the end of last year but Murton refused. I don't think that's true but, whatever. Pie's played pretty sporadically during his struggles. I like to call it The Murton Treatment. The Cubs always find a way to do the wrong thing no matter who is in charge. That info is from Murton's own quotes-what reason would he have to lie about that? As for Pie, I guess we'll have to wait to see what kind of adjustment they made to his swing before figuring out if it's good or bad. Bruce said it's some sort of toe tap, which might help him. Thats wrong. Murton said he never changed his mechanics, but Lou is saying he did. Murton said he didn't change his swing or his approach. He said he did change his stance, but denied that it was affecting his hitting at all. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070613cubsmoves,1,2566504.story?coll=cs-cubs-headlines Right, and changing your stance is different from changing your mechanics.

  23. Woo lets get to 5.5 Cubs!
  24. Pretty hard to get out of your slump, when you havent started in 4 days. Hes a young kid, and is going to have slumps like this, but that doesnt mean he should be relagated to Lous coffee getter. I think Lou has Pie's best interest in mind (as well as that of the team). The Cubs have already committed themselves to keeping Felix on the roster but they have to pick and choose offense over defense some days. When most everyone else in the lineup is clicking, they can absorb the lack of offense at catcher ands CF but the offense has been inconsistent overall and now Aramis is getting a day of... Plus, Lou said that Gerald Perry has been working with Felix so it's not like he's been just siting and stewing, they are trying to help him make adjustments. With our shortstops and catchers on this roster, that is very unlikely to happen ever. I disagree. DeRo can play SS too and Riot goes through hot streaks where he can be productive offensively. I wont call DeRo a SS untill he plays more than a half game there. Im guessing if Lou really thought he could handle it everyday, the move would have been made. DeRo has been taking ground balls there for over a month. If Lou didn't think he could handle it, he would have taken him (or Fontenot) out of the game. Yea him taking ground balls there means nothing. Zambrano takes pop flies in the Of too, so what? If Lou really trusted him there, he would have played more than a half game over the course of a half a season at that position.
  25. And even Hardy has hat some bad days. Didn't he have 3 errors in one game against the Cubs? Yes, but for the most part he is pretty good with the glove. The other three are really bad. Fielder has 10 errors already, 10! At first base, that isn't easy to do. Braun is a great hitter, who in the field is a great hitter. Estrada isn't too great either. Actually it would be real easy to do if you arent very good, since 1st baseman are involved in alot more plays than other positions.
