  1. Pretty hard to get out of your slump, when you havent started in 4 days. Hes a young kid, and is going to have slumps like this, but that doesnt mean he should be relagated to Lous coffee getter. I think Lou has Pie's best interest in mind (as well as that of the team). The Cubs have already committed themselves to keeping Felix on the roster but they have to pick and choose offense over defense some days. When most everyone else in the lineup is clicking, they can absorb the lack of offense at catcher ands CF but the offense has been inconsistent overall and now Aramis is getting a day of... Plus, Lou said that Gerald Perry has been working with Felix so it's not like he's been just siting and stewing, they are trying to help him make adjustments. With our shortstops and catchers on this roster, that is very unlikely to happen ever. I disagree. DeRo can play SS too and Riot goes through hot streaks where he can be productive offensively. I wont call DeRo a SS untill he plays more than a half game there. Im guessing if Lou really thought he could handle it everyday, the move would have been made.

Hes a young kid, and is going to have slumps like this, but that doesnt mean he should be relagated to Lous coffee getter. In Lou's defense, the same mentality that's keeping Pie out of the lineup are also keeping Jock and Iz-sucksatbaseball-is out of the lineup. Not really. The mentality that keeps Izturis and Jones on the bench is they are proven failure who offer nothing to the team now or in the future. While Pie is a kid who may have a future if he works through struggles. Lou is trying to help Pie work through his struggles, only not in games. He's got him working on a "toe tap" move in the cage and in batting practice to keep him from "twisting" too much. Identifying and attempting to solve problems are things that weren't done here with young players the last few years. Well thats good to hear that Lou is working with him, and not just letting him try work through it on his own. When you say "toe tap" are you meaning Sosa style or different? Something similar. It was hard to follow Lou's dance step when he was demonstrating it in the dugout. Lol tango, 2 step, or Lambada(no Aram doesnt want to dance with you Izturis)!
  3. Except tearing up AAA this season... True. So when we need a SS, we can call him up. My point is that The Cubs don't really need a Middle Infielder right now. They need to clear roster space (or, dump Eyre, Jones, and Izturis) so they can make room for more pitching. And Cedeno. Pie tore up AAA this year too. Besides a good week or two, he has not hit. I like Cedeno, and his time will come. Either with the Cubs or with someone else. The Cubs need more offense from SS C and CF, when you have a SS in your organization who is younger then all you ML SS's and is having the type of season in AAA that Cedeno is, then you should call him up. If you could start getting average to a little above average production from your SS and C(Soto) then you can live with Pie's struggles in CF, since he is head and shoulders better defensively than anybody else we can put in CF.
  4. still within bunt grand slam range

  7. So what will it be today? Damian Miller inside the park grand slam on a bunt with 2 outs in the 9th to win it. Im calling it!
  8. I dont think his appeal is being heard till after the break now.

They are both veterans with little chance of getting better, where as Pie is a young kid with alot of upside.
  10. Pretty hard to get out of your slump, when you havent started in 4 days. Hes a young kid, and is going to have slumps like this, but that doesnt mean he should be relagated to Lous coffee getter. You make it sound like Lou is punishing him. According to everything out there, Lou is trying to keep Pie's confidence up, and he's having him work on things in batting practice. When asked if Pie was going to be sent down, he said absolutely not because he was so high on what Pie could offer this team. You're trying to do what's best for him, and so is Lou-both of you just have different opinions on what's best for his development. I understand that, but I dont care who you are, if you go from starting every game for 2-3 weeks straight, to not starting in 4 games, your confidence is going to take a hit. My problem with him sitting this much, is when he does get his 1 start or whatever to see if hes "figured it out" its pretty safe to assume hes going to be pressing. Of course if we had a SS or C who gave us even average to a little above average production, Pie's struggles in CF would be no big deal.

  12. Wow sounds like the Brewers are playing some quality D today.
  13. Well we have Carlos Beltran Jr, so whats a manager to do?
  14. Braun has been struggling lately on D, is he supposed to be a good defensive 3rd baseman or no?
  15. Hooray for sitting Pie once again, cant have him too tired out there.
  16. Thats nice to know, but too bad most of that is from his unbelievable start. 2 of his last 3 outings hes been terrible, no ifs ands or buts about it. I hope its just a bump in the road, and we will soon find out.
  17. while that call was great, Lens was awesome today
  18. Damn Soriano has some hops! Derosa is a nut. THey showed video of him umm behind Aram in the dugout goin crazy.
  19. Bullpen today did a remarkable job. Props to them for possibly saving our season.
  20. I'm reposting this until someone acknowledges my amazing skills. Good call lol....Whats the line from Major league? "Startin to come together boys, starting to come together"
  21. Major major major props to Petrick, Weurtz, Marmol, and Howry. What a great performance from them today, and picking Hill up like that. Wow just Wow
  22. No he's been pretty solid and I don't think he's showing any signs of injury. I'm just more concerned with the fact that when he doesn't have good command of his breaking ball or it isn't extremely sharp, he has nothing to fall back on. You do realize his start before the last is when SD took batting practice off him right? Yeah but his 5 starts surrounding that one were solid. But 2 of his last 3 have been horrible, so Its not far fetched to assume somthing may be wrong.
