  1. Id probably give up Marshall Veal and Either Pie or Epatt. With Tejada we need 1 of those guys to take over in CF, unless JJ is still here to play center.
  2. No his numbers are skewed from his ridiculous July when he put up an OPS over 900. Other than that month he hasnt put up an OPS over 700 in any single month.
  3. Dude quit using OPS with Theriot, it doesnt count his stolen bases, and hustle man, its no fail
  4. Syracuse is terrible and the worst team in our long long history. I'm glad that you Illinois guys are happy to be 2-1 but you just beat a team that is worse than Buffalo. So whats your point? I keep seeing people say this, but do you people not realize that we as Illinois fans are happy because in the previous years, we are what Syracuse is. However we actually won this game, unlike years past, and we as Illinois fans arent expecting a NC this year, but we do know our team is very talented, and has another top recruiting class on its way. Its been quite awhile that Illinois fans have even wanted to mention the word football. We are on the right track, and its extremely exciting watching these young talented kids coming in.
  5. He's not Neifi. The End. But he is basically Cesar Izturis. .269 .313 .301 .614 .268 .330 .355 .685 Those numbers are alot alike. Except Theriot's numbers are (slightly) better and he makes much, much less $$ than Cesar. Theriot is mediocre. Nothing more, nothing less. As has been said here many times; he's fine at SS if you have a solid offense already. He's not someone you want to count on though. If the Cubs upgrade CF, RF or C this off-season, they'd be fine with Theriot at SS. If there is someone available as an upgrade (Arod, Tejada, Renteria), then do it. I know Theriots numbers are slightly better, thats why I didnt say they were identical, I said they were alot alike. And being slightly better than Izturis is not a good thing.
  6. If we're talking about just to test Ronny in light of Riot's slump then I'm on the same boat. That's pretty optimistic to call it a "slump." Yea I think its more fitting to call July a hot streak, and the rest of the season the norm. Think about this comparison:Cesar Izturis. Take a look at their numbers they are alot alike.
  7. Hes ok but all this craze about him is way overblown..... How so? I was being sarcastic, sorry, check the Soto thread in baseball discussions.

  9. I think people are still having a hard time adjusting to the fact that Piniella doesn't really care about who is a proven veteran and who isn't. If this was Dusty Baker's team, yes, it'd be Blanco and Blanco would be playing as often as Soto is right now. But, it's Soto who's getting the AB's and he will be on the playoff roster if the Cubs get the chance to fill one out. In fact, the case can be made that Soto should be starting right now given that Kendall is 8-50 in September and Soto is 11-19. Not saying this means Soto wont be on a playoff roster if we make it, but its clear today was just an offday for Kendall and nothing more.
  10. Boy, I'd love to install Tejada as our shortstop and move Theriot to the utility role. That would be a huge upgrade. We all know that SS, CF, RF and C are the areas of weakness, and with a tough free agent market, this might be a good way to go. Yea but SS isn't a huge hole right now compared to the OF. I'll take an improved OF. I am in no way saying that Theriot is better than Miguel. Theriots OPS is barely better than Izturis's, and his OPS for September is sub 550. SS is a hole right now as well.
  11. What a bs pass interference call
  12. Alright. I like to put pressure on my OWN team, so I'm gonna say the Cubs need to win 8 of 12 to ice this thing. We shouldn't expect less. It's a bunch of tomato cans the rest of the way for us. No reason at all to expect less than 2/3 in these final series. The Reds still worry me. Espically the series starting tomorrow. Arroyo and Harang always pitch well against us. And if Kendall starts they are going to run wild on us as soon as they get a runner on just like they did to Milw the other night.
  13. Well the Patriots are kicking the crap out of San Diego
  14. I love these quotes. First from Mark Mulder 1 bad inning huh? You got rocked the entire game Mark, just like every start this season Tony Larussa on his team Isnt that precious lol
  15. Defensively alot worse, and not that much better offensively. Its hard telling how much Thome would have been healthy had he had to play the field 140 times. Hes been banged up quite a bit just Dh'ing.
  16. Even cooler is the guy who caught the ball was from Texas, and just in town for some convention. Well Thome offered him a gift pack which consisted of Cubs/Sox tickets and the guy donated them to the Jim Thome Foundation.
  17. Hes ok but all this craze about him is way overblown.....
  18. Im still holding out hope Hendry wont be given that option
  19. I wonder what one of those fangraphs would look like for Oak fans right now
  20. And now he missed! WOW
  21. Wow Jankikowki made a 52 yd fg in OT to win but Denver had called a TO wow
  22. ILL
  23. I think the change is inevitable.lol
