  1. pulling z early allows him to be in better shape for his next start AND marmol fresh is better than carlos having thrown 85 pitches he pulled z to go to a better pitcher, and allowed z to be in better shape for his next start. he accomplished two things at once, or at least he would have, if marmol hadn't sucked. Bullpen guys on any given day can struggle, so why go to the guy who hasnt thrown a pitch, over a guy who has only thrown 85 pitches and has retired 9 of the last 11. Z was cruising and is used to throwing 100+ pitches and still being very effective. Lou had to expect Marmol to be a little pumped up. Z is our best starter(no matter how much he struggled this year) and you go with your best guy who has been dominant already, over going to a guy who hasnt thrown a pitch yet that day. And beyond that, the simple fact that Lou gave the reason for making the move was to save Z for game 4 is purely unbelievable. I mean if this was a 7 game series it would be a little different since a game 4 is guaranteed, but Lou was saving Z for something that wasnt a guarantee and thats purely idiotic plain and simple.
  2. Lous being out managed so badly this series its ridiculous. Im so glad we got a veteran manager with post season experience. Hey at least Z and Soto will be rested for opening day now.
  3. Well Cubs are done, Bears are done, so I guess this is all I have keft till the Bulls start. ILL
  4. It wasn't dumb to take "Z" out Marmol has been pretty darn reliable. who new it wouldn't be this time I dont care how reliabel Marmol had been. You dont take out a pitcher who was dominating to try and save him for a game 4, that you cant get to unless you win a game. You win the game you are playing, before worrying about trying to win a game 4. It was a gamble and Lou lost, but at least he tried something. This team does not take chances, they won't even tag up on a fly ball with a weak throwing right fielder LOL what? At least he tried something? What the hell? The move was ignorant plain and simple. Lou had to expect Marmol to be nervous, and on any given night, any reliever can have a bad night, so why take out the guy who you know is dominating? Then leaving Lilly in, when he had nothing? Lou has soap dropped this series.
  5. Yea If the Cubs can get a full year from Wood and Prior starting they are locks for NL Central Champs. Depending on Sheets to pitch a full year is like Cubs fans depending on Prior and Wood.
  6. Just like the Cubs would destroy the Dbacks? The Dbacks are for real, it will be a hell of a series. They aren't for real. Gimme a break. That series would go 5 games at best. LOL How in the hell can you say they arent for real after they have kicked the Cubs asses the 1st 2 games of this season. They won 90 games, and have completely dominated this series, so you gimme a break. So you're picking the D'backs to win that series. Care to make a wager? Im not betting on the Dbacks, but it wont be a total destruction like you are saying. Look what their doing to the Phillies! This team right now is a wrecking crew. No way can the D'backs hang with them. Look what the Dbacks are doing to the Cubs. This team right now is a wrecking crew. I understand the Rockies are hot as hell, but the Dbacks arent playing too damn bad either.

  10. Same goes for Soriano and Aram.

  12. How is this thread on page 4? So far almost the entire playoffs have been dumb decisions by Piniella, minus starting Soto. Seriously I know its not Pinellas fault that the Cubs havent hit, or that Lilly pitched like crap, but between taking Z out after only throwing 85 pitches, and then leaving Lilly in so long when it was obvious as hell Lilly had nothing, is Lou the one managing his 1st post season? Or was he saving the bullpen for game 4 also?
  13. How [expletive] far are you allowed to run out of the baseline? BS
  14. Hey at least Zambrano will be rested for next year.
  15. Well all the questionables have been announced, not really speculation
  16. Because he has 2 years left on his deal, and they dont want to piss him off After 99 years of futility, the Cubs shouldn't care about feelings. Marquis hurt me feelings with his mediocre pitching this year. With that said, he won't be the reason we lose the series. Plus he can pinch hit early and not cause Lou to waste a hitter. Did Hart start in the minors? He could have been the longman. He still might be. I agree but thats why I feel he made it. With that said, Id be shocked to see Marquis in a game unless there is a blowout one way or the other.
  17. I like. I actually wouldn't have cared if Monroe made it over Fontenot. Seriously, Fontenot has been real bad for a long time. But I'm not going to complain about it at all. Pretty much everyone that I wanted left off the roster was left off. I know what you are saying, but at least with Fontenot it gives you another lefty on the bench when Floyd starts. Had they choosen Monroe over Fontenot, the bench would be really really right handed heavy. Also to me, Fontenot has done more to help this team win, then Monroe has, so I really feel Monroe had no business on this roster. By the way, they are replaying the clincher on Comcast right now, and Im guessing they will show the celebration for those interested.

  19. Cedeno is the one who is taking Monroes spot not Fontenot. I understand that. I'm just saying I'd rather see Monroe on the roster instead of Fontenot. We have 4 guys that can play 2b on the roster, and not much pop from the RH hitters. Monroe has sucked, but at least he can hit a homerun every once in a while. At this point Cedeno has more pop than Monroe does.
  20. Yea Plesac is an idiot. "Monros numbers dont tell you the kind of quality ab's hes had, hes had a lot of tough luck." RIGHT DAN
  21. It would have to be. If Ohman, Marshall and Trachsel are out, than it is Hart. Yup
  22. where, where???? Its been announced on Comcast. They are doing a playoff special.
  23. Cedeno is the one who is taking Monroes spot not Fontenot.
  24. Hart makes it over Ohman Im almost positive.
