  1. Exactly. I dont recall any of us being all gung ho to sign him. What myself, and N&G said was people were getting pissed off for no reason regarding some quotes TMac made. Quotes in which he clearly said he had to come to camp and win a starting job, but people still twisted the words to try and make TMac look like a prick.
  2. Exactly. Fielder is basically standing on the plate, he has to expect teams to pitch him inside and thus get hit because his fat ass is too slow to get out of the way of a pitch.
  3. He took out DeWitt. Was that the 9th? Yup it was the 9th and Pat and Ron said DeWitt was shook up. If thats the case I really hope someone plunks his fat ass.
  4. So I caught the 9th inning on the radio and heard Santo ranting about Milw rubbing it in the Cubs faces and he was getting pretty angry. Said something about Fielder going into 2nd base really hard or something in the 9th inning up 17, is this true or just Ronny pissed off?
  5. I wouldnt be so quick to say Dewitt needs a platoon partner. Yea hes been bad this year vs leftys but in 2008 he had 84 at bats and posted a 854 OPS with a excellent strikeout to walk ratio. So basically we really dont know enough yet about Dewitts ability to hit leftys, to say he needs platooned.
  6. I dont get why he was made to run 3 300 yard sprints while it is normally 2 300 yard sprints. 3 300 yard sprints seems pretty excessive, especially for a dlineman.
  7. Where are you seeing that Berkman is going to the Angles? I havent seen it anywhere, just that Houston is entertaining offers for Berkman.
  8. We're not a last place team – there are two teams currently behind us in the standings. The Angels are also only 6 games better than us and still 8.5 games out of first place, currently sitting in third place in their division. Going to the Angels would only put DLee in a marginally better position to make the playoffs. According to mlbtraderumors DLee turned down this trade 8 days ago when the Angels were in 2nd place and only 5 games behind the Rangers. That would have put Lee in a lot better position to make the playoffs than to stay with the Cubs. Better, but still not in a sure-fire playoff situation. Certainly not close enough to say he doesn't care about winning or is nurturing a culture of losing by rejecting the trade. Well the only way its a sure fire playoff situation is if it was a 1st place team. 5 games out with 2 months left and chasing 1 team is a damn good pennant race, and most definitely raises questions about his desire to win right now. Especially with it being to his home state where he is building a home at anyway.
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/columns/story?id=5418710 I dont think it had anything to do with how Lee felt about the Angels chances. Hes confortable in Chicago and I think thats pretty much the extent of why he declined it. It really makes no sense. 5 games out, going to Cali where hes from, and hed rather stay with this [expletive] team, just plain stupid. I know he likes to talk about his familty being a major reason, but hes originally from Cali, and its for 2 months. How many days during these next 2 months is he really going to be in Chicago?

  11. I really dont understand how players can block a trade to a team in a pennant race. These guys all talk about wanting to win etc...and yet hed rather stay with the losing Cubs for than go play in a pennant race? Its 2 months its not like his whole family has to up root and leave, hell hes not going to be actually in Chicago a whole lot those 2 months. Just makes no sense to me when all these athletes talk about their desire to win etc..
  12. Its called an off day, and does it really matter? The season is over anyway
  13. Brings back memories of Dusty eh? That lineup still looks better than the Perez/Macias 1-2 punch we seen with Dusty
  14. I wonder if the new ballpark in Minnesota would have any effect on Lilly waiving his NTC to go there? Hes got a few odd teams to be on a No Trade list, Philly, Tampa, and Minny. Philly I understand as he would get killed in that park, and maybe TB cause they sucked when he signed the deal.
  15. Was he really the most likely candidate for the job? I wouldn't have thought they had him at the head of the line even before this outing. I have no idea who they'll pick. They seem to be following their plan to put Z back in the bullpen. Cashner probably would be determined to not be stretched out either. Marshall's certainly not going to move. It will probably come down to one of Diamond, Jackson, Samardzija, or Atkins. Atkins would be the dumbest choice of the 4, so I'll bet on that. And Samrdzija would be near as dumb, so that leaves Diamond and Jackson.
  16. Uhh apparently this is the lineup.......... Theriot Castro Colvin ARam Nady LF Fuku RF Baker 1st Hill Wells Good luck with that lineup Randy.
  17. Supposedly Dunn is wanting a 4yr 60mil deal. If Im the Sox Id trade Hudson and 1 of those other guys if Dunn would be willing to DH in the near future. Hes been said to not want to DH, and a guy with Dunn's body type Id be leery giving a 4 yr deal to be a full time 1st baseman. If hes willing to DH, Id be a lot more confident in that type of deal.
  18. Well Jiminez sure has sucked recently, and now Strasburg was scratched from his start after warming up. Hopefully its nothing serious.
  19. Matt Szczur has been promoted to Peoria from Boise per Carrie Muskat twitter.
  20. Colvin Castro Lee Aram Byrd Sori Theriot Hill Lilly Soto left last nights game with a bruised foot after fouling a ball off it, so hopefully its nothing more than that and Soto is back in there tomorrow.
  21. Hell even if we trade him Lou will probably still pencil him into the lineup, and just play without a 2nd baseman.
  22. No [expletive]. Every damn player in the NBA, MLB, NFL, etc.. think they should be starters. TMac said he had to prove it, you guys are really really picking on stuff that isnt there. TMac has said all the right things so far, but people are trying to twist it to make him sound selfish etc....Its pretty damn ridiculous. Thibs has coached TMac before, and if he feels that TMac can help this team, Im going to believe him.
  23. that's not nearly as huge as you think. A 2 game swing in the wrong way right now is pretty huge. When you take into account the games left vs the Cardinals, and that Stl and Cincy play each other 6 more times, 7.5 isnt insurmountable.
  24. Man, last nights game vs Stl was huge. If the Cubs had won that game they would "only" be 7.5 games out of 1st place. Then just imagine if they had actually beat Houston and Pitt like they should have...Ya its fun to dream
