  1. Bob Howry
  2. I would like Lou Piniella to explain why Scott Eyre is on this team right now. Hes now been up for 4 games, and has yet to see the field. Why in the hell he would bring in Howry yesterday allowing them to pinch hit Hermida is beyond me, and I believe another LH batter followed Hermida. If Eyre is still hurt(which I find hard to believe since he has warmed up) then put him back on the DL, but if hes not hurt, then its absolutely unjustified to have Eyre up here for 4 days and not use him. Howry needs to be relegated to mop up duty for awhile plain and simple, but Lous bullpen usage may just kill this team.
  3. Right. Thats why I laughed my ass off when the other guy classified it as "great". I also agree he'd be better served in the pen this year.
  4. I don't know how they handle players who change positions, so I can't be sure. If he keeps a nearly 150 ERA+ this year though, I think it's hard to imagine him not being Type A since he wasn't terrible as a reliever. That was my thinking as well. If hes labled a Type A, Id love to get 2 picks for him, and odds are somebody will want to sign him quick if he hits the market.
  5. Ok thanks. Maybe my goals are set to high for Howry after his 2nd half last year, but I just really wish he'd cut down on the hits given up.
  6. Not sure if this has been brought up in here or not, but would Demp be classified as a Type A Free agent if he keeps up near this pace?
  7. Not to mention his velocity topped out at 92 1 time. Other than than he was sitting between 88-91. Like I said I hope they rush him and Wainwright back because that bullepen will get even more exposed.
  8. Outside of 1 month Howry hasnt posted an ERA under 4.5 for any month on the season. He has given up 56 hits in only 46.1 innings pitched. Teams are hitting almost .300 against him. Averaging giving up a hit per inning is not a good thing for a reliever. Howry has been pretty damn bad this year, and there really is no glossing over it. Howry since May 1: 33 IP, 12 ER, 35 H, 26/4 K/BB, 4 HR, that's good for a 3.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and .267/.287/.435/.722. You are really stretching it. Howry has been fine since he got off to a slow start, quite good actually. BUT HE GAVE UP 2 HITS ON FRIDAY!!!!! That added alot to the discussion, thanks.

Howry has been fine since he got off to a slow start, quite good actually. Thats still giving up more than a hit an inning. His whip is so good because he doesnt walk anyone, but as a reliever giving up a hit per inning is not good. He may not have been as bad as I thought, but I dont think hes been as good as you say either. While looking deeper into his stats, it looks like he has alot better when he has no runners on, compared to when he has runners on. Any idea how hes done with inherited runners? I cant find it
  10. Except Bradley never did anything noteworthy as a pro was never all that highly thought of and never had a chance of becoming an all-time great. He's more like Angel Guzman. Well ok I could go with Angel Guzman except he was pretty well thought of, and was thought to have a chance at being great.
  11. He pitched a "great" game? He had no control at all. He threw 30 strikes out of 61 pitches. If thats your definition of great, I dont know what to say. Control and stamina are 2 of the very last things pitchers coming back from TJ surgery regain. Its going to be awhile before he regains the control. Like has been said, Carp will have very little impact on the race. Also with as long as Wainwright has been out, hes going to play a very small part also. He will be on a pitch count whenever he does come back(he still hasnt started throwing from a mound yet). But hey, put these 2 in the rotation please, because anything to make your bullpen pitch more will be a favor to the Cubs and Brewers.

  13. Bradley is the Mark Prior of the Chicago Bears.
  14. I wonder if he could replace Howry, right now in the pen......
  15. Or going to his left...or going to his right. He is really bad out there. Yup he cant read a ball off the bat at all.
  16. Nice route on that ball Rick. For all the love he gets for his arm, he is absolutely horrible at going back or coming in on flyballs.
  17. There's no way you run on Ankiel though. Not only does Ankiel have a big arm but it was a pretty short throw as well. He should have already been standing at 3rd for that AB
  18. I wonder if Izzy will slap a TV and go on the DL again?
  19. What are you watching Gonzalez? THat was obviously a single Jesus
  20. He has experience doing it, dude. That gets him the Budhouse Seal of Approval . Yea he also has experience at being downright horrible for every month but 1 this year. Hes terrible right now, and is giving up hard hits like crazy. I have zero confidence in him this year.
  21. Howry has absoultely no reason being allowed to close out a game.
  22. Well we had our offesive outburst for the series lets hope Demp can throw a shutout
  23. I think one of the bigger needs for this team is for Bob Howry to get his head out of his ass and start pitching decent. Hes been terrible this year for the most part, which causes Lou to depend even more on Marmol.
