  1. Arrieta is amazing. Go-go gadget offense.
  2. Any chance umpires are watching all this talk of framing, looking at the lists and adjusting?
  3. I just ordered the ultimate nachos at Buffalo Wild Wings. I'm a cord cutter in the STL market, so mlbtv is blacked out for me. Go to BWW and eat nachos. Twist: I have not eaten nachos in years, and don't particularly care for them. I was the nacho hold out. First game loss was on me. I have learned my lesson.
  4. You should be flogged for even thinking this.
  5. Okay, you got me ... why aren't rookie-eligible players, and in Sands case, a guy who is many years away from the bigs, considered prospects? Ah, I see you edited that to say pitchers. Still, even if you want to discount value because TINSTAAP, they still have value of some fashion. No such thing.
  6. Not sure who Rivero and Sands are, unless this refers to the pitchers by those names. But, then, I thought we were voting for prospects, not pitchers.
  7. Not much room for Schwarber in that lineup if it turns out he can't catch. But, I suppose that's a good problem rather than a bad problem. Baez to Japan, Bryant to 3B, Castro to 2B.
  8. The union shouldn't. Rosenthal should. He should know better. He's essentially arguing that the Cubs be held to one standard and every other club another. The rule is stupid - Ken is correct. It needs to be taken out in the next CBA. But the place to fight the battle is when that's negotiated, not by filing a nuisance grievance over Bryant. How would you propose that the rule be changed? Serious question. Make accruing a service year require much less than 172 days. Someone from Fangraphs suggested 100 as a round number that could do the trick, that'd eliminate the incentive to keep someone down for a short amount of time to gain a much longer amount of time of control. Sure there'd be instances where teams would wait out that 100 days depending on the situation(e.g. Polanco last year), but for the very obvious cases where team control is the primary factor, lowering the length of the service year would help a bunch. 120. That's 4 months and 2/3 of the season.
  9. Has there been any recent speculation on Castillo, Jackson, and Wood? Have the recent injuries and Wood's latest performance changed anyone's thoughts towards him? I was the one chanting last spring that Wood wasn't any good, but I wouldn't mind opening with him as a lefty in the pen and have him around as an options or the rotation if needed.
  10. Whose also an idiot for not having Edwards in his top 50 :) And for not having Bryant #1
  11. Isringhausen, pulsipher, and Wilson. Late '90s Mets. Dusty-apocalypse Cubs.
  12. It sounds like you'll chip a tooth eating this [expletive] Think baked velveta.
  13. David Ross does not go really fast.
  14. If Baez is in AAA, why isn't Russel at 2B? Russell is declared not ready yet and La Stella gets on base alot so they keep him at 2b Not ready for 2B but you have him at 3B. Not that it matters, silly predictions and all, but yeah.
  15. If Baez is in AAA, why isn't Russel at 2B?
  16. Lots of low strike/pitch framing in that Lester video...
  17. Wrigley Fenway New Busch Coors Turner field Nationals park Old Busch GABP . . RFK stadium . . Riverfront
  18. You should not. It is less than statistical noise, really. Like with Spring Training, the assumptions that guide what data is useful are not (as) applicable, and even if it were then it would definitely have sample size problems. Better to ignore in its entirety than to try and divine narratives from any portion of it. Yeah, I know I'm just squinting really hard trying to pick out even a hint of something positive in the static. Like the scrambled spice channel when we were kids...
  19. Bingo Agreed. Not to be anti-social, but I'm here for baseball.
  20. says there right in the link that phil rogers is involved, so that would explain why it has not been posted or talked about anywhere. While I disagree with the premise, it is surprisingly well written. I kind of like referring to the last few years as the Luis Valbuena era. I personally prefer the NoBueno era. Still. Leave Bryant in Iowa a few weeks. Hurts nothing, especially if they pick up a left fielder. Gets Alcantara, Baez and Valbuena in the lineup at the same time to see if Baez can do something or if Valbuena is your second baseman for the bulk of the year and depending on the OF situation if things are shuffled there resulting in Valbuena at 3rd, FA OF in Center and Al Contra at 2nd. I don't have much hope for Baez.
  21. lol, no Uh, let me make sure I'm doing this right... Ha, yes? Obnoxious: check Contributing nothing: yup. I think I got it.
  22. Of course! But we don't have much to work with. I love that the Cubs' front office is so tight lipped, and that moves come out of nowhere, but the lack of rumors is hard. My wife and I are from the same hometown, and "coming home for Christmas" has become synonymous with perusing the latest rumors and moves by the Cubs, and actually having time to post on NSBB, but this year it's quiet. Oh well. I'd love to see them package Nobueno and Wood with Castillo and get back a solid left fielder and a slightly better Tommy LaStella.
  23. Really, really hard. Like a .400 babip hard.
