  1. Plugging Hill was just the front office trying to make us forget about Sisco. But we won't forget... WE'LL NEVER FORGET
  2. definitely. I was at a rainy game in Washington with him last year. In fact, everytime I've ever seen him, it's been raining. Just like that guy from "So long and thanks for all the fish".
  3. Or how 'bout before he got roughed up in spring training, or before he turned his 2+ era in the minors into a 9+ era with the big club last year. We will always sell low. *sigh*
  4. Remember a couple years ago when it was like Ryu and Sisco, Sisco and Ryu? I was so excited about Ryu and Sisco. yeah.
  5. Every spring training game he plays, I see that possibility going up a percentage point or two. Right now we're about a 65-35 in favor of him being the opening day 2nd baseman.
  6. What do the Cubs fans have to do to get some HONEST people up in the front office. This cloak and dagger crap when it comes to injuries, is simply mindboggling frustrating. Exactly. I bet he's dead - they're just saying he's alive so they can sell more Mark Prior jersies. That would be a lot funnier if it didnt actually seem like a distinct possibility. :x enhanced
  7. Well, I'm the guy that does this type of operation. Hahahahah... OWNT.. LMAO. Best. Own. Ever. Lesson for those hoping to own in the future Note that the guy who used the rolly eyes didn't own - he got owned. Rolly eyes do not insure an own. They may, however, lead to an owned.

  9. link What?!?
  10. Recap from the Top 100) Healthy Wood Pray 99) Healthy Prior(no lie rives hitting elbow) 98) Full season of MATT MURTON 97) A reliable closer 96) Hendry will choke and die on a donut that was just filled with too much jelly, forcing the hiring of a new GM who will fire Dusty and get rid of that stupid French guy in RF 95)The cool French Guy in CF will return to 2003-05 numbers 94) more solidified bench with the addition of Mabry (and subtraction of Macias) 93) More PT for Murton 92) A real lead off hitter in Pierre 91) With all the Frenchmen Hendry will switch to croissants instead of donuts thus losing 150 lbs. 90) Patterson, Perez not starting 89) That French guy in RF returning to 2002-2003 numbers. 88) The 2 new guys in the bullpen greatly improve over lasts years group. 87) by the time #78 comes around people will have realized that it turns your number into a smiley face and will do something to prevent it 86) (I'll do a 2 for one since that last one didn't count) Both Hendry and Baker are in contract years, so they will both want to win it all this year. Also this is Maddux's last year in the majors, giving him more incentive to win. 85) A healthy & rejuvenated ARam groin = 0.950 OPS 84)The Midseason Trade! 83) Magnets will be put on Dusty's dugout dice so he always make a good line-up. 82) The new bleachers will block out more of the sun so the white players won't wear down as quickly. 81) Carlos Zambrano will continue to dominate, going 22-5 with a 1.99 ERA. 80.) An MRI Machine will be installed in the dugout... this, injured players will return sooner. 79.) Dusty will be given a lifetime supply of toothpicks. 78.) An Anti-Joe Morgan forcefield will be installed around the city of Chicago. 77. The Cardinals and Astros will be worse this year, making the Cubs look better. 76) LaTroy Hawkins not a Cub 75) No "veteran lefty" to steal time from rookies 74) The Cubs will trade for Adam Dunn, thereby forcing ManCrushOnNomar to change his name to Douchebag McGee. 73) Dusty will not be able to call on Remlinger to get lefties out 72) Prior,Wood, J.Jones & Grissom will all revert back to their 03' numbers 71) Corey won't be leading off 70) Hopefully, Corey won't be wearing Cubbie blue 69) I got 69 on the countdown. 68. Dusty learned so much from the multitude of mistakes he made last year. 69) Since his 69 wasn't real. Dusty is in the last year of his contract so maybe he'll get traded before he becomes a free agent. I got the real 69 Laughing 67) They have decided to stop handing out so many pitcher injury cards before and during the season. (No doubt me getting 69 on this board will make the Cubs less sucky because they'll have to spend less time worrying about who got 69) 66) Michael Barrett won't be sporting an ugly goatee. 65) Sammy still isn't in right field. 64) No more Neifi/Macias/Patterson batting leadoff 63) Dusty Baker possibly resigning in frustration before the end of spring training 62) Felix Pie 61) Wrigley still beats the hell out of that other park on the South Side. 60) Juan Pierre wil score 130 runs, leading to a WS title, and have to make up a new song. No more "wiggly feel" or "ivry." 59) someone with a slightly better glove then todd walker but with a 700 ops is at second base and saves the season 58 )Maddux travels back in time to return to the Cubs in a revitalized, younger self ala Pedro. 57) The Bear's Superbowl victory inspires the Cubs to beat out the Cardinals for the division. 56) Anna Benson says she will sleep with all of the Cubs if they win the WS, thereby forcing them into winning. 55) We know why there is shadows where light can't reach, so none of the players will be pondering this, so they won't be put off. 54) I'm drunk right now! 53. Anna Benson says she will sleep with posters at NSBB if the Cubs win the WS. Laughing 52) About 1 thousand more bleacher bums will be making a mess. 51) A repeat or better the head to head performance v.s. the Cardinals. The Cubs were 10-6 v.s. STL in the 05' season series. 50.) The Cubs will be in first place after April thus creating such a positive movement within NSBB that the board will never go down again!
  11. Wierd seeing Patterson in the boxscore.
  12. After reading the SI article After reading Darren's schoolbooks
  13. 11) The new book on Bonds and steroids names Baker as a steroid pusher and he is banned from baseball for life.
  14. Again, this isn't his funeral. Why can't people talk about him openly? Why do people have to pretend he was some great person and not have the opportunity to discuss what kind of human he was? You can talk about whatever you like, but some people have respect for the deceased and don't use his death as an opportunity to talk badly about him. Someone else quoted my grandmother (thank you for adding to her fame) in this thread. She said, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Its these words (among others) that have made my grandmother the legendary orator she is, and they are particularly relevant in situations like this. As for myself, I know that Kirby is in the hands of a merciful God who understands justice on a level you and I never will. He knows the motives of the heart and and knows what allegations are true or false. Kirby lived his life as he saw fit and will be judged accordingly. As for me, I lack insight or evidence to judge him - I'll let God do His job. May God have mercy on his soul.
  15. um.... Can't be better if we don't hit 100!
  16. Yeah, I read it a few times and still don't get it. But that's what happens when Dusty talks. I think he's saying since Cedeno did so well in winter ball, Cedeno thinks he can walk into Arizona and rip the cover off the ball. Maybe he's trying to do too much. er..something
  17. AAA is mostly spare parts anyway. Obviously there are way too many variables too make this work...ever. But weve joked for years that Pittsburgh is the Cubs' AAAA team. THere's little difference these days between spare parts from Pittsburgh and spare parts from Iowa.
  18. Kind of like the first division/second division system. I like it! Newark Bears up, Kansas City Royals Down!
  19. Witch!! Ban him!! Only if he weighs as much as a duck
  20. How is trading for Nomar a bad idea? It didn't work out as planned, but I don't think it set us back much. We got Murton, and Neifi played for KGon. Yeah but the money is the issue. Rather use that money for help at midseason and stick with Walker for now. Or let Washington get so desperate that money is no longer an issue. That I souldn't have a problem with. Just as wouldn't have had a problem with Nomar at 5+incentives. But paying someone big bucks to not play is never fun.

  22. looks like the bloody mets. Prior's name on anything resembling the mets makes me physically ill.
  23. Injury prone, yeah. Average, no. There's a difference between being bad, and just being injury prone. Kerry is injury prone, but not near "bad". BTW, how's Ben Sheets' latest rehab going? Im not saying Kerry Wood is a bad pitcher i'm saying at this point he's average. Maybe that's due to all the injuries, but the last two years have been pretty average. Even in his best years ('01 and '03) he was only 8th and 9th in the league in era. Every year he's been in the top ten in K's he's also been in the top ten in BB. I don't think after all his injuries he can ever return to that 03 form, therefore I think of his as an average pitcher. Ben Sheet's rehab is going well, no set backs yet. He's on pace to start opening day for the 5th straight year. First ST game for him tomorrow. Only 8th and 9th in the league, eh? Out of how many starters? And that's not even factoring in BAA, WHIP, K/9ip... I'd say he's decidedly above average. Oh, for a bit of health! Maybe he means he's an average #1 starter. :)
  24. Welly has no options left, right?
