  1. It's not good. I've turned it down to the lowest video setting and it's still a little choppy.
  2. Atlanta announcers point out Cubs were 12-52 when they did not homer. Didn't point out what other teams' records are without a HR.
  3. The question mark is after the name of the high school, not the entire statement. And when we questioned you on it, you emphatically repeated that it was true.
  4. Also tell their keeper to try to stop balls coming toward him.
  5. Because they've been encouraged their whole lives to spin anything as "it's okay, I'll overcome it." Because confidence, while sometimes delusional, is important to athletic performance.
  6. The guy said in 30 years, he'd never heard of such a case at high school in Indiana. I don't believe anything you linked referred to a high school in Indiana. So not only are you a guy who makes up stories, you can't even keep the stories you make up straight. In case you are having trouble remembering, you made up a story about a high-school in Indiana being fined $20,000 for missing a station ID and having to shut down. All evidence points to this, like many other things you post, being made up.
  7. Woudln't it be great if they had *other* baseball leagues? Leagues at varying levels of competition, so that instead of just wildly guessing whether a player will be successful in the majors, we could put them through a series of intensifying challenges and keep some sort of statistical records of the result. We could call them "Lesser Leagues." And then when a guy has trouble putting up a .340 OBP in the Lesser Leagues, we can know he won't likely be successful in the majors. Instead, we just have to cycle every person on the planet in our corner outfield spots, because we haven't seen any of them start and therefore have no idea if they are good at it or not. We better get lucky fast.
  8. Samardzija is the source of frustration not because he's bad, but because he's always been bad, the management should have known that he's always been bad, and the fact that they don't think he's bad proves the existence of a humongous blindspot in the judgement of the people who are running the Cubs.
  9. LA has a goalie that could give us fits, but not much else that scares me.
  10. I blame you for that goal.
  11. No new goalie? Campbell out? No problem guys, we have Colin Fraser and Tomas Kopecky to save our season.
  12. He's a baseball player from that era, so you can't really say "absolutely no way it's possible." But there's not really any evidence supporting it.
  13. Most of what George Will wrote was whining about how hard it was to see the Cardinals succeed and having to root for the Cubs. He barely ever wrote about Cardinals fans actually doing anything more than very, very light taunting.
  14. Nothing Colvin has done in the minors makes me think he could be a starting corner outfielder in the majors.
  15. Not really. Pretty much everyone thinks he sucks. Except the only people who get a say in the matter.
  16. It's just another way to group pitchers in terms of level of talent. I don't see the issue. let's keep it simple. ace means one, so your ace is you number one starter. there are thirty teams, and in the theoretical universe of "this guy's an ace, this guy's a three" or whatever, each team will get one of each pitcher, so we need thirty aces. let's even keep it so simple that we just use era to decide who the aces are. whoever was in the top thirty of era among starting pitchers in the major leagues is an ace. carlos zambrano's era of 3.77 was good for number 30 in the majors. ACE MATERIAL The whole identifying pitchers by imaginary rotation slot thing is stupid, but when people do it, they usually have an implied "on a good team." The 30th best pitcher may be a No. 1 somewhere, but he's not a No. 1 on most good teams.
  17. You are officially to blame for everything that happens between now and the end of the season. Are you Jim Hendry? If I were, it would not be beyond the pale to suggest I off myself.
  18. You are officially to blame for everything that happens between now and the end of the season.
  19. Yes. Also, we won the 2003 NLCS and our team isn't named after the baby version of an animal. We win the series then after that? Of course not. The Cubs will never win the World Series.
  20. If it were cricket, McLouth would have been expected to tell the umpires he dropped it or face a stiff fine. Cricket > baseball
