It was .297 coming into today. League average according to B-R (not sure if that's NL or MLB) is .265 so far. And our pitching was at .236 going into tonight. My persecution complex is not holding up to the cold light of reality.

I want to check after the game to see what the Cubs' BABIP for the whole season is after this game. It doesn't seem like we're getting a ton of breaks on balls in play, other than Reed Johnson's triple.

LaHair is going to be good and Rizzo's just not going to give a freak and pistolwhip him and take the job anyway in June. Can either one player corner outfield? I mean anyone but Todd Hundley can be a corner outfielder in theory. But really, no.

Not a smart person, but same thoughts. He was struggling with consistency, but you can see why there's so much upside there and he's at least a serviceable BOR guy on the downside.

He appears to be being saved for LOOGY situations before the 8th inning. He warmed up yesterday, iirc.

It's unconscionable that the manager would use the second best reliever on the team in back to back close games with an off day in between after not getting a lot of work in spring training. No manager would make that move. I'm intrigued by the idea that Wood is the second best reliever on the team. I mean, if you have faith in his 2011, then he's got to be the best, right?

This is the game thread, so I'm allowed to be pissy and reactionary (not that I won't in other threads too, but still). Anyway, Travis Wood is perfect through three and Volstad has been shaky. Glad we give out jobs based on spring training results.
