  1. And we have our first Vitters walk of the year.
  2. I'm guessing Wells is done after six. 6 IP, 2 HR, 3 BB, 2 K. Not terrible, but not exactly the way to pitch himself back to the big leagues either.
  3. Really? His first two ABs were swinging bunts fielded by the catcher that should have resulted in a combined three outs. His third was a K. The one where he crushed the low fastball was nice. It wasn't even that much of a hanger, but he was able to get under it nicely.
  4. kyle, take note... when aramis fan is being more optimistic than you, it's probably time to dial it down a bit. Your opinion has been noted and given all due weight.
  5. The fact that they are intelligent is what makes this so annoying. If they had been trying to put together a good team, they probably could have done it.
  6. Why are you even pretending to still be a Cubs fan? Why would being unhappy about a loss and a bad team mean that I'm not really a Cubs fan? Odd perspective.
  7. I just changed my vote to yes.
  8. 6-4. Soriano and Stewart each would have had homers.
  9. On the bright side, by losing an MLB game today, our scouting and development got better. At least that's how I've been told it works...
  10. Good: Being willing to pull Dempster in the 8th. Bad: "Defensive" substitute Reed Johnson, encouraging stupid baserunning
  11. Strasburg and Dempster, with a little bit of help from the wind. Both should have given up multi-run HRs in the first inning but the wind saved them, but after that both were dominant.

  13. Ian Stewart killed one in the 9th. He just needed to kill it about a foot farther. Or even a foot to the left.
  14. And Theo Epstein sighs in relief, as his 2013 draft status avoids a potential setback.
  15. Hahahahahahaha. YES! The streak, however, continues.
  16. It was nice of Sveum to get the mascot an at-bat on Opening Day.
  17. Reed Johnson gets called for check-swinging at a pitch that would have been behind him if he were left-handed.
  18. Dear God, and eggs, and Jesus and Santa, and Travolta's guy, and of course Shiva, please let Reed Johnson get on base and Ian Stewart hit the walk-off.
  19. At least now my crankiness will be in the Cubs' fan mainstream.
  20. It did not look like he hit it anywhere near that hard.
  21. It's the heart of the order? Yay. Johnson, Stewart, Baker.
