  1. Then gamecast is full of it. That was legit low and not that close.
  2. So, like I said, Dolis or Russell, please??!?!?!?
  3. Brooks by baseball's pitch f/x had the fourth ball to LaRoche as just a tiny bit high, but a legit ball.
  4. On the other hand, I love Sveum's willingness to pull Dempster here. I don't know if it's a matchup thing or if he had a certain pitch total in ind, but he didn't feel like he had to let him finish the inning out of machoness or veteran deference.
  5. So what kind of odds would it have been that there was a 10k pitcher in this game and it wasn't Strasburg.
  6. Yeah, he hasn't had to pitch from the stretch since the third inning, it's not overly cold or hot, and he's just now hitting 100 pitches. Dempster is old, it's cold and it's Opening Day. If you don't pull him at 92, he's probably throwing 110 or so, and there's just no need for that. The whole bullpen is fresh and we've got an off day tomorrow. It's not egregious, it just seems a poor choice to me.
  7. If he gets one more K, I'll be happy, just because 10 is a cool, round number.
  8. Wouldn't want to save the old guy's arm this early in the season...
  9. Very curious to see who gets the 8th. Would have to be Dolis or Russell, right?
  10. I can't believe Strasburg only has one K. Maybe there is something to this slappy hacky game.
  11. So it wasn't just a spring training thing :( I didn't want that baserunner anyway.
  12. lol, nice approach LaRoche. Appreciate the help.
  13. Meh. He's not getting the borderline pitches, so they aren't wrong, but it's been consistent today.
  14. Don't worry too much. He'll get it back with the bat.
  15. Can't really complain about patience when he does that. Yes you can, patience isn't just about taking balls. It's about running up the opposing pitchers' pitch count. Getting yourself out in a hurry against a guy who had TJS not too long ago and is probably going to be monitored for workloads just isn't a great idea. Patience is also about hitting the hittable pitches, and the Cubs did that. It makes no sense to watch a hittable fastball go by for a strike just in the name of taking pitches. Barney, at the very least, swung at bad pitch.
