  1. Did the "baseball gods" walk Nix? coming into the game he'd walked 4 hitters and he has a whip of 1.27 and era over 6. he's getting f'd in the a. Fangraphs is apparently updating live now, which lets me tell you that he had a 36.00 ERA for that inning and a 1.95 FIP.
  2. Giving him an extra day off to go easy on his arm.
  3. Any thoughts on Chris Stratton out of Mississippi State? Friend of mine covers them and said he's been told that the Cubs are interested in Stratton. That's probably just homer talk, but it's plausible enough to make me curious.
  4. Somewhere there's an alternate world where Vitters was a second-round pick and played at age-appropriate levels every step of the way. In that world, Cubs fans drool over what a great find he is.
  5. No one wants to get a good morning doom boner going more than I do, but there's really nothing to Concepcion's results right now. He's getting used to pitching again, he's getting used to pitching in America, he's warming up his arm for the year, and it's a small sample.
  6. Seems kinda easy after the fact. Who are the good ones that you see now?
  7. He's one more ofer away from worse numbers than he had last year, but he's got the peripherals of a league average offensive 3b so far.
  8. Explain. By the time this team is ready to compete, he'll be at least 31, and either government or corporate death panels will have him executed.
  9. Give him 70 points of BABIP and that home run that he was robbed of on opening day, and his numbers look pretty solid.
  10. I'm not trying to intrude on a GDT, but...really? He's doing fine? The peripherals are adequate. He's not going to have a .220ish BABIP forever.
  11. With ordinary BABIP luck, Stewart would be hitting something like 250/325/375. The average NL 3b right now is hitting 241/312/388. He's doing fine.
  12. I'm ready to concede on Wood, but I still think Sappelt>Soriano. Anyway, I'm not surprised that you have turned rooting for a Cubs player into something twisted. I'm feelin' Ian, no need to dissect any further than that.
  13. MiLB Gameday says "Corey Patterson tripled on a fly ball to CF Brett Jackson." There's an interesting pair to have their paths cross.
  14. He's playing good defense and getting BABIPed. He'll be fine.
  15. I don't quite get why "fouling off a lot of pitches" is always equated with "good at-bat." Sometimes it is. Sometimes you just fouled off a bunch of hittable pitches that you should have driven somewhere. The LaHair-Motte at-bat was a mix of both. He missed on some hittable pitches early in the count, but fouled off some good ones later.
  16. Baserunning!?! I can only assume that was Soriano's fault and Ian did nothing wrong.
  17. Oh look, Bryan LaHair gets another BABIP boost. If Soriano avoids the DP, then epic Stewartbomb coming.
