  1. Campana leadoff single = guaranteed small ball. Hope it works.
  2. From when he tested positive for it. oh [expletive], i missed that, when was that? Spring training a couple years ago I think. IIRC, it was before one of his good years. Found it. At the WBC in 2009. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/news/story?id=4287155 He proceded to have his worst year as a major leaguer. But seeing as how I don't believe for a second that was the first and only time, it doesn't have anything to do with how he performed.
  3. Walking that guy in front of Holliday is less than ideal.

  5. 108 pitches through 7. Garza has to be done.
  6. Unless someone gets one in the next few innings, the Cubs will be on pace for 47 home runs.
  7. I feel like I've spent a decade saying they aren't this good and the Cubs aren't this bad.
  8. He came into the game with a .400 OBP, I think.
  9. This game is setting up nicely for some Ian Stewart pinch hit heroics.
  10. Anyone watching the game have a report on the empty seat situation?
  11. Hmm. Nobody seems to share my sense of humor. I'll keep trying till they do. Unrelated: Castro hits everything hard. Someday he's going to hit 25 home runs.
  12. Garza = not a winner. He had his run and couldn't make it hold up.
  13. http://partywiththis.com/images/P/evilclownshoes.jpg
  14. Gameday put three of those four balls to Carpenter in the zone.
  15. I really, really hate David Freese. He was just one of those stupid borderline 3b prospects that the Cubs always have a million of, but somehow he turns out solid while David Kelton fades into obscurity.
  16. Barney ran Castro into a hit by putting pressure on the defense. It's sick how much we do stuff like that this year, and it doesn't really add up to that much.
  17. I really can't believe that there are five teams in the NL with fewer runs/game offensively than the Cubs. Baseball-Reference is lying to me. Solid inning from Garza, but I could have done without 23 pitches already.
  18. I wonder how long it's going to take before I remember that I can't watch the game on MLB.tv at work because I'm on the other side of the river. It's going to be July before I am not surprised and disappointed by this fact.
  19. Speechless. I couldn't disagree more. I love Garza but this offense is brutal and with LaHair out and Soriano in runs will be few a far between. Isn't the wind blowing in from the lake? It is. And that favors the Cubs, too. Since we have absolutely no power, there's nothing for the wind to take away.
  20. Really no reason to sit Ian Stewart tonight. I think the pitching matchup is advantage Cubs enough to overcome the difference in the teams.
  21. Is this a preview of the newest angle of your anti-Theo shtick? Not exactly. It's not new (I brought it up even before he was hired) and it's not really anything against him (because it really has nothing to do with how well Epstein does his job), but I have thought that the parallels are interesting.
  22. I go to the box two minutes and feel shame.
