  1. It's really that bad. Everyone has moved to the prime seats behind the plate and in the first few rows, but that still leaves about 15% empty seats in those areas. The wide angles show a nearly empty park.
  2. Fan on the field, leaving 7 still in their seats.
  3. Castro throws his helmet in anger. *checks skin color to see if this is the fiery passion of a True Winner* Nope, immature outburst it is.
  4. Theo was really stressed out from all those high-pressure years in Boston, and Ricketts is a meatball who thinks that good players making too much money was a reason we were bad. And Ricketts paid too much for the Cubs and can't afford a $130 million payroll while he pays off the rest of what he owes. Don't forget the cost of those lavish safaris, where he goes to willfully neglect his club. It's all being orchestrated by the curse of the goat.
  5. Wind blew that one out of DeJesus's reach. Volstad's ERA is up to 6.60, but it's a good 6.60. Unlucky.
  6. For those listening on the radio or following on Gameday, Castro just hit that ball roughly as hard as Glenallen Hill's famous home run, and it hit the outfielder in the chest at the warning track.
  7. Hahahahaha. There was nothing about that play that wasn't awesome.
  8. I'm going to go ahead and assume that the Cubs do not homer today, which will leave them on pace for 58 for the season.
  9. I don't hate him, but he leaves a lot of balls up and out over the plate.
  10. Reds were tagging balls that inning. Volstad had the Dempster formula down that inning: allow crushing line drives, let them get killed by the wind or right at fielders.
  11. Stewart robbed. He's due for a huge hot streak, just can't get the BABIP luck.
  12. DeJesus with a better-hit ball than anything in the Reds' inning.
  13. Theo was really stressed out from all those high-pressure years in Boston, and Ricketts is a meatball who thinks that good players making too much money was a reason we were bad. Yeah, that's all bullpoop. Also, between the debt service on the Ricketts' purchase of the team and the Wrigley Field renovations, we have to prepare for our mid-market budget in the next few years. Obviously. Also we're cursed and this only happens to us.

  16. Booo Byrds are out for that error. *rim shot* get it?
  17. That's about the size of it. The hit was weak as well, so it's hard to blame Volstad too much for that run. The six more that are apparently on the way will be definitely on Volstad.
  18. He short-armed it, but it was a really bad throw. He would have had to put himself into an ugly situation to try and catch that. Don't need Castro getting hurt on a play like that.
  19. GameDay says 20 mph in from left field. :-k Flags are tricky. Probably just a Rizzo for Stewart today, then. So many empty seats.
  20. Did I see those flags right? Blowing out to right? Stewart pulls a Granderson.
