  1. Just another miserable first half. Caleb Williams only had like two third downs where he could have done anything and he bizarrely refused to throw the football on both of them. I hate it.
  2. He was visibly offside before they snapped it, you could even see it on tv
  3. We're getting all those third down blitzes people wanted.
  4. Hop hop hop hop hop hop hop no throw. This is fieldsian
  5. I can't wait to see this defense against the Lions next week
  6. He's our fourth option at LT. How good is your 4th option supposed to be?
  7. Caleb not seeing it and getting rid of the ball was his fault. He *has* to know that's coming on third and long. He can't keep hitching and waiting.
  8. That's 100% on Williams. He saw the blitz. He knew the blitz was coming. He thought he had time to hitch. You can't hitch there.
  9. Well, depends on which side you run it to. We've got run-blocking RT who has been pretty good lately, that feels like a good play. As long as you don't do something stupid and run it to Amegadjie's side...
  10. We should get ourselves one of those modern kickers who don't have to kick it low line drives to be good from 50
  11. He's had snaps here and there and I've made it a point to look at them all season because it would be cool for next year if we had a hidden gem 3rd rounder who could start for us next year. He's definitely got the body type to be a tackle but hoo boy does he look slow and awkward. He looks like a poor man's Matt Pryor, and you're already pretty damn poor if all you can afford is Matt Pryor.
  12. Week 18 at Green bay has a very high probability of being meaningless for the Packers, would be a great spot to ruin our draft position.
  13. Tonight is gonna suck. My genuine hope is that the defense is completely checked out and the Vikings are worried about injuries so that Williams gets a whole half of garbage time against backups to pad stats
  14. I'm not denying it makes sense. I just don't want it.
  15. I'm not super worried about our exact draft spot. There's no Joe Alt in this draft to miss out on, and we're not looking for a QB
  16. This is very true. People don't like to talk about it because it feels like absolving the front office and coaches, but the OL injuries have been absurd even by football standards. Amegadjie sucks and this is going to get ugly.
  17. We overpaid for sweat but it's about 30th on my list of things to gripe at Poles about
  18. I hope Williams gets it in his head at this point that there is absolutely nothing to lose, it's time to chuck it.
  19. As others have said, the defense when perfectly healthy is good but not great. The defense when missing Brisker and Billings is kinda ok but not really. Last week we saw a complete surrender. Lots of players visibly did not care and were not particularly trying very hard. The team is pretty checked out. I really want to see some dynamic and major changes for the whole roster this off-season. This is not a patch job, hope you stay healthy and don't choke so much next year situation. I hate the term "rebuild" because it implies tanking and taking years off. But I wanna see a very different team next year
  20. The biggest problem last week was that Caleb Williams sucked. Whatever the 49ers were showing him, he wasn't understanding it. I would like for him to go back to not sucking this week
  21. The more I think about it, the more I would rather just fire Poles now. The locker room is completely gone and the drafts have been thoroughly uninspiring. And I know it's a cliche from me, but I'm gonna hate it if we use a top-10 pick on defense. It makes sense in a short-term, trying to put out fires sort of way, which is the wrong way to draft that high. If you ever want to have a top offensive line, you're going to need a top LT and this may be your last chance to draft one.
  22. I've always hated his positional priorities. We're just now getting to the point where we can judge his drafting. Out of his first draft, we got an OK nickel corner, an OK run-focused safety and an extremely mediocre LT (yes, I know PFF loves him, that's a PFF problem). His second draft netted us an ok RT and an OK DT. That's it.
  23. Williams is significantly contributing to the sack problem. He's at least half the issue. No matter how bad the line gets beat, the QB can move away from the pressure and he can throw the ball before it gets there, and Williams has simply not been good at that. He's overcommitted to staying in the pocket, overconfident in his ability to narrowly escape NFL defenders, and I guess you can say his refusal to throw into muddy reads is a good thing but as he gets more experience there need to be a lot less reads that look muddy to him.
  24. Things I am significantly less worried about now: 1) not picking high enough to get a worthwhile OT prospect 2) keeping brown around as coach
  25. I think Williams is an extremely talented rookie QB who needs time and experience to consistently read NFL defenses, and he definitely needs to refine some of his habits including overcaution on throws and reads. He is absolutely not exempt from the offense struggling. I also think that our offense is poorly built. The line is a bit unlucky with injuries but the decision to go bargain hunting at LT has never set well with me The WR group doesn't have a guy who is great at getting open. Allen used to be that guy but he's ancient. Moore is a YAC guy. Odunze is a jump ball specialist (the first td today was so good). Swift is a home run merchant who needs a great offensive line giving him big, obvious holes. And as much as I love Kmet, he's an inconsistent blocker who often tanks plays with poor execution
