  1. Oh yeah, draft status. Bears currently pick 9th. If they win (lol I know) and the Saints lose, that drops to 10th. When they lose, they can move up one spot each for each win from among Jags, Panthers, Jets, and Raiders. The highest we can move up to is 5th (there might be some scenarios where Panthers lose but we move past the Giants on SOS? I doubt it, but I'm not gonna bother doing that math to be sure. We can't pick higher than 5th either way).
  2. Lol it's finally, blessedly over. They should probably pull Caleb Williams if he gets to 8 sacks. He needs ... I can't even be bothered to do the math... about 175 combined rushing and passing yards to set the franchise record. The Packers still have seeding to play for. They need a win and a Washington loss (or win/tie or tie/loss) to get the 6th seed, which would mean traveling to the Rams instead of the Eagles, which feels like a notable difference.
  3. I hope they fire as many players into the sun as possible *and* don't use that as an excuse to not build for three years. Williams, Odunze, Wright can stay. Probably a couple of guys on defense but who cares about defense. Anyone else still here next year is a function of the limits of roster turnover
  4. Poles has a list of bad, bizarre decisions every bit as long as any other Bears executive, and he's speedrun through them in under 3 years. Despite how low the bar was set by his predecessors, Poles has managed to improbably limbo underneath it. 14-36, 2-15 in the division, losing streaks of 14 and 10(active). That's a worse record than the Matt Patricia Lions. This current bears team is in the midst of one of the most majestic implosions I've ever seen from a sports team, and any attempt to minimize the fallout is just going to delay the recovery. The entire building is cancerous and our biggest concern should be how much of the roster we can feasibly turn over after replacing every single person in the front office
  5. I don't have any issues with Warren other than him being a prayer weirdo
  6. Counterpoint: all that historicalness has led to the two longest losing streaks in franchise history in just 3 seasons
  7. The right way to approach it is to fire Poles on Black Monday. Short of that, this is probably the next best option. Letting him lead interviews with people who may or not have the ability to fire him is kinda crazy buckets
  8. Breer reporting bears will make Poles the leader of the coach search to reassure candidates there's no confusion and Warren isn't in charge. My optimism is dwindling fast.
  9. If Williams gets within one of the sack record, it'll be bagent time
  10. There has been little indication they intend to fire poles, unfortunately
  11. Jets and Panthers getting blown out, back to 9th pick
  12. Yeah, if I'm ben Johnson I would prefer Jacksonville. Holy crap this thing spiraled out of control fast
  13. That was 100% the problem in the second half on Thursday. He wants to be that guy but after the fourth or fifth sack it's time to let it go, and there is absolutely no leadership on the Bears to tell him to knock it off
  14. My hopes for anything more than a Kyler Murray career from Williams begin dropping the moment Poles isn't fired
  15. It seems pretty obvious to me that Williams' alleged accuracy issues are excessive caution and frequently not being on the same page as receivers. Whether that's better or worse I leave up to the reader, but he's pretty good at placing the ball wherever he wants to place the ball.
  16. Given that I see plenty of good QBs in the bottom left, I'm not super worried about it
  17. What the bears definitely need is an even less clear organizational structure
  18. They should go full meme and fire poles now, promote Thomas brown to interim gm
  19. I said this would be the year we started getting a picture of how good poles is at selecting players. The results speak for themselves. Meanwhile, not a good year either for the bears or in the rest of the NFL for my "coaches don't matter that much" belief
  20. Yeah, I'm ... I dunno if I wanna describe it is not optimistic. This can be fixed in one off-season and we can be a credible football team again. But the path to that happening involves a lot of things happening that could all be failure points. They need to realize this isn't salvageable, fire the gm, leave zero legacy coaches for the next guy, get the hires right, gut the locker room and have a killer FA and draft.
  21. I honestly don't even know where to begin parsing through who to blame for that offensive performance. The play design and playcalling was poop from a butt. The offensive line was exactly what you'd expect from the guys they are sending out there The receivers had some ugly drops And Williams just cannot accept that the solution to all this isn't him running around for 8 seconds
  22. If Poles stays and they hire a defensive coach, that might break me
  23. He turned down Carolina and Washington last year
  24. Even if Poles tried to prioritize the lines, I wouldn't trust him to pick the right players
  25. The first half, Williams was let down by the team a bit The second half, he just couldn't let go of the idea that he could scramble for 12 seconds and make a hero throw. Burn the tape, gut the roster, come back next year
