When do you want him calling that timeout? With 10 seconds left after they've already wasted 21 seconds? Then when they throw an incomplete pass and Santos can't hit from 55 or whatever it was, you'd say "Well, eberflus made the right call on that timeout"?
We'll need a whole post-mortem analyzing that play. Williams kept signalling for them to hurry and then some of the receivers started making adjustments so they couldn't snap
Calling timeout would be awful there. Then you're facing a must-sideline throw just to try to get a long field goal.
If you wanna blame the coaching, blame them for not having the team ready to execute a quicker play.
Darnell Wright injured. I know we aren't supposed to talk about it because it might mean Eberflus doesn't get fired if we admit it, but offensive line injuries have been unusual and significant this season.
Only thing I'm hoping for is true garbage time to get Williams to a not terrible stat line. As long as we get that, this is fun bad and it's gonna get a lot of people fired.
It should be noted that the Lions are the best team in the NFC, possibly in the NFL, and do this to a lot of teams.
But that doesn't absolve anyone. That's the standard you need to aim for and three years into a rebuild we might be further than when we started.
