  1. Pirates announcers saying Soto hugging/handshaking in dugout?
  2. This is clearly the greatest inning of all time.
  3. That's the guy who waits till Marlin posts something on PSD and then copies it on other sites as his own. But if MarlinBystro said it on PSD, it's probably happening.
  4. Ok, it didn't go well this year. Would you say at this point you are much more excited about our team going forward than you were last year at the same time? Maybe? That's the best answer I can give. A lot depends on how interested Epstein and such are in trying to upgrade. Samardzija and Rizzo have taken big leaps forward, and I'm a bit more comfortable with Barney being able to stay in the .680 OPS range. I'm just saying that going into this season, we had a lot of WAR lists that penciled Marlon Byrd in for 3, our catchers in for 2, Ian Stewart and Ian Stewart for 1.5, and we figured the bullpen might be okay. I think we've added young talent. Rizzo, Soler, and torreyes. Baez has been as good as we could have hoped for. This years draft looks great so far. Now all we need to do is start adding upside arms. I can't believe anyone could look at the strides we've made in on year and not see we have the right people running thngs. My mistake. I thought you were asking specifically about the 2013 Cubs. Yes, I'm quite excited about the long-term potential this front office has brought in, and the Rizzo, Marshall and aborted Dempster trades were masterstrokes.

  6. I feel like we've done that before. If all our marginal guys turn in average seasons, and we don't think about the bullpen, it might turn out okay. Of course, it might have turned out okay this year too if a few more things had gone our way.
  7. August 2013: "Some team will get desperate in the waiver trade period, and at that point we'll get our two top-50 + two more deal."
  8. I assume "bend over backwards" means "We're still talking to them despite the fact that they are spamming ridiculous, lowball offers."
  9. I really think this was a simple matter of Dempster being mad that the media sprung it on him and turning petulant.
  10. that would be awful Yeah, I like the taste of food. What if the pills tricked us into tasting like amazing tasting food while at the same time being really healthy? At that point I just want to stay in bed all day and have an IV drip that makes me ecstatically happy at all times.
  11. I don't think being awful at baseball is terminal, so probably not.
  12. http://www.gonemovies.com/www/Drama/Drama/StrangeloveRipper1.jpg Nineteen hundred and forty-six. 1946, Mandrake. How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works.
  13. This Rizzo kid isn't being challenged at this level. We need to move him up.
  14. And Theo won the crapshoot twice. Meh. The consistency with which the Red Sox made the playoffs is much more important than the fact that they won the crapshoot twice.
  15. Under. Johnson and *maybe* Dempster. I started to say Maholm, but that option next year looks too sweet and I just can't imagine someone giving us a legit prospect for him. Damn. The doom boner came out, didn't it? It never goes away. It's just always there, lurking. Our front office has made it clear they like to hold on to guys unless they are getting extremely favorable deals, and the conditions aren't right for any of our major pieces to get such a deal.
  16. Torreyes is going to be a severely underrated prospect going into next season. Vitters' walk rate is up to 6.7%, and still there will be people insisting he hasn't shown any improvement in plate discipline since his 3% days in the low minors.

  18. Also, the LFer on Amaya's triple took roughly the worst route I've seen since Todd Hundley played LF for the Mets. That is Exhibit A in why I don't trust XBH totals in the low minors.
  19. Really like Vogelbach's swing. Almost no leg kick because he doesn't need it for power. From the side, he doesn't look that big, just sort of short and compact. Then you see him from the front as he turns into the swing, and yeah, he's pretty fat.
  20. It's kind of odd that you see prospects grouped by "top-100". It obviously varies constantly as new prospects are added and older ones promoted, but I don't really see that as a cutoff. It seems like generally, you have a small number of guys who are incomparable. Then you have elite prospects filling out the rest of the top 20 or so. Then another tier fills out to about 50, and then you get into a large mass of really good but not special prospects. The difference between 20 and 50 is usually bigger than the difference between 50 and 150. Seeing Baez and Soler break into that elite tier is really exciting.
  21. That's just pure prospect porn. Thank you for posting it.
  22. How do you feel about double rainbows?
