  1. It's pretty plausible that he's touched 93 at some point in his career but works 87-89.
  2. Still forming impressions about Villanueva, but would have to say him. Vitters just doesn't have the upside.
  3. A lot of that is because haters just don't want to admit Vitters' approach has improved.
  4. That's the thing. Preliminarily, I want to say we got a new No. 4 and No. 6-8 prospect without trading Garza, and that would have seemed insanely awesome a few weeks ago. But after the Delgado rumor, it all just tastes like dirt in my mouth.
  5. Yep, there it is. Don't care about him now. Still think Villanueva looks very intriguing.
  6. Also, keep in mind that Myrtle Beach is among the most extreme pitchers parks in the minors. .285 .356 .421 are pretty good numbers considering that. As others have mentioned, he's barely 21 and a string bean who hasn't filled out yet. i think he looks pretty promising. Myrtle Beach is hitting .245 .306 .343 as a team. I'm starting to like Villanueva more and more than more I learn. I'm guessing Hendricks will look good until I find out he throws 87 or something.
  7. we may have gotten nothing good for maholm/johnson if dempster went to atlanta. it still sucks because delgado is clearly the best of the bunch, but this seems like a decent haul. I could care less about the pieces maholm/johnson got us, the big catch in this was Delgado. I'm for quality over quanitity. With pitchers, I think I'd rather have quantity.
  8. Until I knew we might have had Delgado, this would have been a perfectly acceptable, even nice, haul for Dempster. Now we got a top-100 (barely) prospect for him and it just feels kind of hollow. Overall deadline: Solid, acceptable, not quite as amazing as hoped.
  9. That's a little disappointing. We missed our chance last winter. At least this mean's we're not 100% for sure tanking next season. Still some room for some hope.
  10. SMOKESCREEN HE WILL ONLY GO TO THE DODGERS ARBLEGARBGLEDOOMBONER
  11. Dempster will be making his first starting in Yankee Stadium and I'll still be insisting it's a smokescreen to get more from the Dodgers.
  12. If the Dodgers come up short because of their starting pitching this year, I will smile and consider the 2008 NLDS partially avenged.
  13. It seems like almost every time there's this last-minute drama, we come away with no deals. Nomar being the major exception.
  14. Pretty close to 100%. If he said it, I'd be surprised if it wasn't true.
  15. gotta be dempster helping the cubs posture, right? My guess is yes, but we'll know in the next 77 minutes.
  16. Hendry would have dealt him two weeks ago for half a sandwich and a "get out of jail free" card. Hendry would have held on to him out of respect and then not offered him a qualifying contract. I swear to dog that nobody who complains about Hendry actually remembers how Hendry operated.
  17. Source says Yankees offering really awesome trade for Dempster and the Dodgers better up their offer right now or they might not get him!
  18. I admire them for throwing out every trick in the book, but this is getting really transparent. At least use your buddies in the Red Sox to make it credible and maybe they cover for you.
  19. Cubs scrambling to convince Dodgers they have some leverage.
  20. http://www.sportsgrid.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/charley-steiner.jpg Post of the Deadline.
  21. lol okay Kevin Again, he's a prospect geek. He clearly and repeatedly shows bias towards prospects (at the expense of actual major leaguers) in virtually every trade evaluation. He's just a contrarian. He was dressing down some fans a few weeks ago for complaining that some prospects were too much in a deal, because prospects are there to be dealt or something.
  22. That's definitely not caving. That's targetting who you want and doing what it takes to get him.
