There were two funny scenes in that movie, and both were in the preview (and not really that funny). Complete ripoff. Still better than 2001 or Wall-E, but that's not saying much.

I think there's a middle ground between "losing our [expletive]" and being concerned that the possibility of the trading deadline going badly is higher than it seemed to be a few weeks ago.

Frank Wren apparently on Atlanta sports radio right now and directly stated that there was a deal in place, that it expired yesterday, and the Braves have moved on.

My hypothesis: Dempster is scared to go to a playoff team. Observation: Dempster has not accepted a trade to a playoff team. Result: Hypothesis confirmed. QED, ladies

My guess is that he thought he wanted to go to a contender, but then when he realized what kind of pressure he'd be under he froze up and is now hoping to torpedo any deal so he doesn't have to face the pressure of playing for a winning team.

Whoever we get for Dempster that isn't Delgado, I'm going to boo forever as a proxy for Dempster and how he showed all the worst of professional athletes.

Unless we are in on a $20-million-plus player, it's hard to see how payroll won't be slashed again next year. We will have a ton of guys in arb and pre-arb years.

Of course there is. Reports are things that come from legitimate sourced information that we want to here. Speculation are things that are either just guessing or that we don't want to hear.

You do realize that Dempster has a daughter with DeGeorge syndrome, right? He hasn't given any indication that he's going to turn a trade down. For all we know, he's trying to make sure things are settled for his daughter before he leaves for a couple months. Considering how open he's been about the realities of the business, and open about the destination, when you combine that with the fact that he hasn't given any indication of wariness towards Atlanta ... it might be non-baseball decisions that he's sorting through, for all we know. Yeah, I don't care about any of that, I want the 21-year-old No. 3 starter with five years of control and I'm going to be annoyed with him if we don't get it.
