  1. Seemed like Ricketts implied yesterday that a referendum of some kind would have to take place. A referendum for what? Are they seeking public money/assistance now (like a loan, bond, TIF district, etc)? Expanded night games?
  2. Also said that deadlines had been missed for ordering some key construction materials such as steel.
  3. Said the deal is essentially finalized outside of the jumbotron. Said deal was thought to be done this weekend but fell apart, and may take months now and involve public hearings. Parking garage is off the table.
  4. *Shrug* We'll find out. You're absolutely right that if it's nothing, it'll bear out over the season. Somehow, if it was 10 BB in the same time period, you'd find the tidbit a lot more interesting and less objectionable.
  5. Exactly. If this were something you wanted to see out of them, then you'd have no problem noting a potentially interesting trend this early.
  6. Of course it's worth bringing up. There's a whole continuum between "meaningless" and "completely predictive of underlying talent." After this many games, I'd put it under "worth noting and coming back to later."
  7. Agree completely. As far as our top hitting prospects go, Soler is much more disciplined than I would have thought. Brett has discipline, thats about the only thing I'm not worried about longterm with him. Soler's got two walks this season and Jackson has none. Baez and Vogelbach have none. This is the year I'm kind of hoping to see that our organization can teach and improve plate discipline, and that's not a great start. Crazy early, of course.
  8. Very few BBs for our top hitting prospects.
  9. I'll go ahead and jump on the Watkins bandwagon. Barney being expendable would make for a more interesting trade deadline.
  10. If this was Cubs Park Rosemont, it'd be an 8-7 win.
  11. 8.5/10 on the Fake Rally scale. I want to go higher, but you need to leave yourself room in the judging for this early in the season.
  12. Wow. This is a real fake rally, not just a fake fake one. Legit.
  13. They are trying to out-Cubs the Cubs, but Lillibridge will find a way to derail this.
  14. Everything is set up for an epic Lililbridge GITP.
  15. Every time I start to forget how annoyed I am with that ump.
  16. Lillibridge did his best to erase it, but only managed one out.
  17. He couldn't be any worse at pitching than he is at hitting.
  18. Something something situational hitters only the Cubs.
  19. Moreland knew that was going to drop. Better than Stone.
  20. Castro crushes the first hittable pitch he's seen in two PAs.
