  1. oooh, I was wrong about a baseball player's projection for the year. I'll never live *that* one down... doofus
  2. It's going to take people like 10 years to notice the AL East isn't good anymore, isn't it?
  3. I was thinking the same thing today. If the FO had given us anything resembling a major league outfield this team might actually have made some noise. You're forgetting about the highly coveted draft picks that are super important yeah, who wants guys like Bryant. If it came right down to it, I'd gladly trade the high pick for a lesser first-round pick, millions and millions in attendance revenue, better TV ratings, and a bunch more extra wins worth of players on the big league squad. Yeah, sometimes you get a Bryant, but sometimes you get an Almora or an Appel.
  4. WTF can our management team put together moves like this or Marshall for Wood and still lose 90+ games every year?
  5. Thanks, but I don't need buddies. I just want the Cubs to win in a reasonable time frame. define "win" Not to speak for him, but I'll define it as making the playoffs.
  6. I can't believe our pitching is this good and Castro and Rizzo are in the conversation for best in the league at their position and we're still this bad.
  7. Thanks, but I don't need buddies. I just want the Cubs to win in a reasonable time frame. That's not going to happen. Settle for what you can get.
  8. I will be your buddy, lhs.
  9. The first pitch curveball for a strike to Mesaroco was Prior-esque.
  10. I always flash back to Sammy's ... 96? Was that the HBP that shattered his helmet? no, he was hit by a pitch against the marlins in '96 that broke his wrist and ended his season with him sitting on 40 HR. And it drove in his 100th run. He had a real shot at 50 that year.
  11. That's like two months' worth of extra bases for Almora.
  12. You're doing it, Jake. You're playing with us! From now on, I'm picturing Arrieta like this:
  13. Listened to the first four innings in the car. Holy f#!% Arrieta.
  14. That's about right. Our organization is awful for high-ceiling, not-injured starting pitcher prospects. And I'm OK with that, because the way that happened wasn't through a bunch of guys busting, we just spent all our resources on elite power hitters and awesome relievers. Chasing TOR pitchers is awful value.
  15. If he would, that's a huge "don't care about 2015" sign.
  16. Yup. His real, actual numbers are becoming reasonably sexy.
  17. Kris Bryant needs 8 more home runs in the next four weeks to reach 50 in his first calendar year as a pro.
  18. After the first, Bryant is hitting .263 entirely on home runs.
  19. They get kinda pissy if you call it that. We totally go to their sites for their opinions and not the daily news and comments sections.
  20. Can you imagine if we'd lost a few more games and taken Appel instead?
  21. hahahahahahahaha Turn up the #$@$#@ sliders, Kris. Nobody likes the guy who plays on easy mode.
