  1. Seriously though that first quarter was fun.
  2. Are we seriously going to get that football?
  3. Bears actually look kinda fired up.
  4. I'm not all that upset about it. So sloooooow.
  5. Does anything? Ranch sauce
  6. Dang it we've reached that Atlanta Braves stage where regular season wins don't even make me that happy.
  7. It *used* to be a thing that unnamed sources were used in very rare cases where both the reporter and his editor agreed that the story was too important to sit on and couldn't be gotten any other way. Like Watergate. Anything less, and the reporter is putting their credibility on the line instead of the source's, and that was considered a bad move. It was just part of the reporter's job to convince the source to go on the record or find one that would. But that seems to have more or less died the day the Internet was invented.
  8. Because he had a contract with Tampa Bay.
  9. It's hard for us to remember because our owner is filling out surveys on Amazon Mechanical Turk at 25 cents a pop in his spare time, but most teams in MLB are having money shoveled at them in giant piles right now between cable deals and revenue sharing. Prices that seemed crazy a couple of years ago are perfectly reasonable now.
  10. Kaplan is so far up Theo's posterior he'd make friends with a hispanic person if Theo asked him to, and we all know how much he'd hate that. But I'm reverse course and do the opposite of anything Wittenmeyer reported.
  11. never go full kyle. By being right? Because he's right. Is that what we're calling Full Kyle now? No, going full kyle is making projections off baseless assumptions and calling it 'logic'. The assumptions are never baseless. You just disagree with them.
  12. I'd celebrate twice as hard and do like a tour of every other team's city to show off my trophy. Unless there were protests or ebola.
  13. When I was a kid, I was in a weirdo Christian version of Boy Scouts called Royal Rangers. Until I was about 8, I think.
  14. Using my magical offseason rumor divination skills, if feels like Lester has his mind made up on Boston and is floating whatever he can to try to squeeze a bit more money out of them. "Oh man, guys, I love Chicago. I'm totally going to go visit San Francisco now." Another Sanchez situation.

  16. I would personally drive Kris Bryant to Busch Stadium to give him to the Cardinals if doing so somehow meant the cubs would win 95 games in 2015.
  17. Oh you sweet summer child. I remember when we all thought the same thing regarding spending money on Theo Epstein.
  18. The Cubs' payroll has dropped $50m over a four-year span. Last offseason featured the front office voluntarily not spending money it was given. The result was yet another last-place finish. Histrionics, as you call them, are warranted.
  19. You're further along than me...even in resignation I'm hoping for Shields + McCarthy/Liriano I don't even really want Shields that bad. He's so very, very old. I just want the FO to show that they care even the slightest bit about winning at the major league level. Thus far they have not done that. I think we already know they don't. But we're getting close to the point where a decent MLB team might be a side effect of them doing the stuff they do care about.
  20. lol @ Indiana
  21. And then go into next year when Zimmermann, Price, and Cueto are all free agents. And Samardzija. It's a marathon, not a sprint, guys.
