  1. Alright. I guess that's just what average pitchers who can pitch almost full seasons cost.
  2. Maybe I'm nutso but I was thinking like 1/$8m. He's not that good?
  3. Wada is in the Villanueva role, he's only in the rotation if a bunch of people get hurt or he just blows everyone away. With guys like Hammel, you're going to need more than 5. Even if he stays healthy, he's not a 32-start guy.
  4. I would guess somewhere around where Scott Feldman got last offseason with the Astros (3/30). Deal was front-loaded too (12, 10, 8) Holy crap I hope it's not that much.
  5. I kind of like him better than anyone but Hendricks and Arrieta.
  6. The newest member of our front office already prepping the ground: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/12/07/levine-jon-lester-bidding-war-continues/?utm_medium=projx&utm_source=projx_socq-stories&utm_campaign=projx_socq-stories_rss-recurrent-tag
  7. Burn in hell for even saying it, Sickels. Seriously.
  8. The nightmare is if Lester signs then everyone decides to shut down waiting for Scherzer to go through the process.
  9. No way. Easily the most fun. The NFL has the NFL draft, which >>>> anything anyone else has to offer. NFL and NHL at least everyone signs pretty much immediately. NBA and MLB are comparably bad, but MLB wins out because at least in the NBA the free-agent classes aren't all complete turds like MLB's has been lately.
  10. Getting an early start on doing nothing, amirite?
  11. They owe a lot of it to their aggressive, risk-taking philosophy that will inevitably produce some C.J. Wilsons. Mike Trout helped a little too.
  12. Something something learned their lesson about 30 year old SP in free agency something Yeah they sure did take that one in the shorts:
  13. Duquette is one of those guys who seems like a really underrated baseball exec to me. All he does is go around building kick-ass baseball teams.
  14. I bet a million imaginary internet dollars that some reporter just asked the entire question like "Would you say that you were nervous in your callup and that there were too many voices giving you different advice?" and he said "sure."
  15. As bad as Gregorious is, that's still a small upgrade at SS for NYY.
  16. Wait. Even giving you President, which I don't think we should, what makes the GM elite?
  17. Acccurate.
  18. The coaching just isn't NFL caliber. It's kind of hard to *really* see what players can do in these conditions.
  19. Why do you keep saying "blow it all"? We'd still have Bryant and Soler and Alcantara and a billion other prospects.
  20. From the guy who lectures everyone on overreacting?
  21. Then they get to fire him, rebuild with a completely fresh start and lock in several more years of job security. They're surviving Trestman, they're not surviving the next failure. No reason to start that clock a year early.
  22. Why not? Because it puts Emerys job status in question or because the bears are cheap? Those are the only 2 reasons I see. I think Trestman has far surpassed those concerns with his ineptitude Emery, Ted Phillips, the lot of them. None of them benefit from moving on to the next hire a year sooner. Man, remember when Cutler used to hit those throws?
  23. Those are all really great reasons why he should be fired. But he's not getting fired.
