  1. I'm looking forward to seeing what this defense can do with a late lead.
  2. That was a well placed throw by Cohen. Trubisky would have held it for two more seconds then thrown it away.
  3. This game has moral victory written all over it. In before "the defense played well besides that one long touchdown and we had a chance to beat a good team, so that is encouraging."
  4. Needs a lot of pitching. I mean, you always need a lot of pitching because lol pitchers. But they need to spend the offseason loading up on as much pitching as they can get their hands on.
  5. It helps if you have kids. My son and nephews are into hockey, so I take them to Ducks games, and I'm at the point where I root for the Ducks about as much as the Blackhawks.
  6. Honestly, I'm still there. If the Blackhawks are any indication, it'l take a few years.
  7. Cubs have an .800 win percentage in double-elimination games over the last three decades. Clutch franchise.
  8. yeah but think about how they were still bad in 2014. Well, to be fair, winning playoff series is mostly luck.
  9. The Cubs are now 6-1 over their last 7 playoff rounds. Three straight NLCS is pretty amazing
  10. Well my TBS went out with one out in the ninth but apparently it went well.
  11. Just let them start with a runner on first and save the pitches.
  12. It's going to take approximately 37 runs to win this game.
  13. I'm just thinking about double-elimination games and Cubs' history. In most people's lifetimes, they've had six and are 4-2. That's not bad. Obviously 2016 WS is the best and 2003 and 1984 NLCS are tied for worst. In between, I'd probably rank them 1998 WC tiebreaker, 2015 WC game, 2003 NLDS.
  14. n/m I'm wrong
  15. Should they be happy with their safeties? They're part of the pickless secondary and give up an awful lot of long touchdowns.
  16. Yeah, in 2008 they changed the rule so all playoff games are played to completion. But they won't start this game unless they believe they can finish it. Oh yeah I know they have to finish a game, they just can’t call it after 5 and that’s it if a team has the lead. But they just suspend a game if they start it and they can’t finish and play the next day from that point if they only get a few innings in, right? Correct. It's not like the regular season where if you get rained out after three, everything is erased. It all counts.
  17. If you want to drag the game down to a miserable clock-chewing slog where you keep it close and lose, you can about half the time. Then you'll go 3-5 in those games and 1-7 in your blowouts and finish 4-12. There's a few bright spots, sure. Everyone likes Trubisky more every time they see him. There are parts of the roster that aren't tire-fires. Interior OL, most of the front 7 on defense. I don't hate the corners. But even some of that stuff is more "ok" than "good." We want to think of the defense as good, but the Bears are tied for next-to-last in takeaways on defense and have zero interceptions, and you just can't win in the NFL like that. I think if you got Trubisky one really kick-ass receiver and one good one, plus a year's experience, that'd probably be enough to make for a decent team in 2018. But they're way more than one offseason away from being really good. But I feel moderately confident that they have the QB situation solved for awhile, which is really helpful.
  18. Trubisky looked fine, which is pretty good for a rookie QB in his situation. He does a really good job of putting himself in position to make a throw. He did make a fair number of throws into tight coverage, but I can't tell how many of those were bad reads and how many were just that his receivers are completely awful and tight coverage is the best he's going to get.
  19. Just give them the touchdown.
  20. That was due to happen. Trubisky had gotten away with a few.
  21. That play made watching this game worth it
  22. Of course that's how we get a passing TD.
