  1. In theory, but you get Watson and you have the best QB in the NFC under 32. And we are literally seeing right now what happens when you replace negative value QB play with top 5 QB play. Tampa was 7-9 with Winston and now is in the Superbowl. Granted, they didn't have to trade their early draft picks to get Brady. Where the Bears pick, drafting their own QB probably isn't possible without a move up. If they don't go into the draft with a legit franchise QB, it probably means they are going to trade this and next year's 1st round pick to move up for a QB. You're talking 1 more 1st rounder and some other pieces for a proven top 5 guy. The Cutler trade didn't set the Bears a step behind. Not properly surrounding him with talent on offense w/ the resources they did have did. And frankly, Cutler probably wasn't quite good enough. Definitely not a top 5 QB like Watson is. And Tampa is gonna get bum-rushed by KC, a team that drafted its own QB. It sure feels like five years after a Watson trade, we'll be saying "it's not his fault, he just doesn't have the cast around him." Just like we did with Cutler and Mack. I mean, I'll be excited if they do it. But I really just want to draft a successful QB of our own just once.
  2. When you trade a million picks for a QB, aren't you putting yourself a huge step behind every team that drafted their own? Just draft your own. We are trying so hard to come up with any path that doesn't involve that, and I don't get it.
  3. I know you have to go BPA or whatever, but if it's not a QB, I really want an OT.
  4. Doesnt do us any good. We keep getting screwed in the lottery. The Wings have gotten most of the Cap space cleared where Holland was way to generous to mediocre players who were 4th liners on their better teams. And are actually getting legit talent in their system. Be several more yrs is my guess though. The defense is mostly 3rd pairing at best guys It's a really good year to get a top-pairing D in the draft, from what I've seen.
  5. *sigh* It's incredibly obvious what's about to happen. We're going to go after a veteran QB because Pace and Nagy are convinced that it was Trubisky that held it all back (which, they kind of have a point, but sucks to be you, we still need a rebuild to reach championship caliber. Window's closed). In an offseason where tons of QBs are available, Pace will fixate on one that is "his guy" and pay a premium for him. Then we'll enter the season with a shallow roster depending on aging big names, win somewhere between 6 and 11 games, and get shitkicked in the playoffs if we get there. No QB will be drafted, or at least not in the first few rounds.
  6. Yeah wow did I ever underestimate how powerful the Detroit tank is.
  7. It's Kyle the only way meph would take even a passing interest in covid data would be for the opportunity to call some scientists dumb Also I've never let you guys find the site I use to shittalk all of you.
  8. It's Kyle Yeah, that checks out
  9. Yeah I'll be happy to look back on this as an overreaction, but I don't think people have caught on to just how historically bad this season is going to be. Crawford and Lehner covered up a ton of flaws the last couple years, and even then all that got us was a 12th place finish in the conference. With Dach out for the season, Toews out indefinitely (and mysteriously), and Kane/Keith very likely totally checked out, especially in light of Colliton's extension, it's going to be very, very ugly. I'm usually not one to dwell on the meatball, 'play with passion' aspects of sports, but going to need to see even a semblance of a spark before I stop betting the other team puck line every game. Nah, you're right. This team is not just ordinary levels of bad. I'm not super familiar with every team in the league, but they have to be the worst, right? This is an AHL team plus Kane.
  10. Theo is a smart, powerful white guy who is kinda liberal. Those guys never tolerate this sort of behavior, obviously.
  11. I always thought Hoodie made Brady more than vice versa and I’ll accept this season as a strong point against that
  12. Mineaswell start looking at the draft. There isn't supposed to be a true generational Crosby type this year, but it's a great year to get a true No. 1 defenseman, there's supposed to be at least three or four guys who are "best defenseman in a normal draft" quality. I don't think there's a consensus top guy yet, partially because the scouting is limited compared to a normal year. I love the idea of Owen Power. That's a HOF name, and he's a 6-6 defenseman who is supposed to be a shockingly good skater for his size.
  13. They were in the mix for worst team in the league before they lost Toews and Dach. This is a full blown tank.
  14. Mitch's problem isn't his throws. They're not great but they're NFL-acceptable. His problem is his inability to make the right reads. I'm not sure he could run a QB-run heavy offense because I've never once seem him make the right decision on an option play involving a QB run.
  15. Supposedly Phillys owner doesn't want to eat Wentzs contract and wants to salvage him, which is why Pederson was fired, as he wanted to move on. So I don't think it will be Wentz. Ryan will be interesting to watch. His cap number still is pretty tough to swallow in 2021. In 2022 it becomes much easier to cut or trade him. So even if they might draft a successor he'd be a good, albeit expensive, one year bridge. Stafford seems more realistic than either of those. God I have seen this movie so many times.
  16. The tank is on. This team is definitely capable of having the most lottery balls.
  17. What is it about this set-up that you guys don't get? This isn't Crane and the Cubs. This isn't McDonough and the Blackhawks. Ted has football input by virtue of having direct input on who the GM is, and he's had it for decades. OK but if he was one step higher, wouldn't he still have "technical football input" by picking who the president is? No matter what the labels are, unless your owner is a football guy, there will always be a non-football guy picking the top football guy.
  18. I never get the Ted Phillips/Crane Kenney stuff. No matter how many layers of sports people you add, eventually they'll have to report to a not-sports person.
  19. umm..we all do Do you *really*, though? Truly, in your heart?
  20. I want to draft a QB to dream on so bad. I don't even care if he's a project that we have to sit for a year first or something. Just gimme something.
  21. I wasn't able to play over Christmas break, got one round in last week and my short game was absolutely gone. I completely forgot how hard to hit chips and putts. My rec league hockey starts back up this week, and golf was a replacement for that, so suddenly the urge to go to the range is fading and the urge to go to the rink is rising. I need to keep working on it, though. I'm hoping to do some kind of decent-sized golf trip in March when his mom comes to take him for a week.
  22. But in order for that to happen, we have to 1) try and 2) commit resources to making an offense that one can thrive in. No more "ok I know we need an offensive lineman but this edge rusher is just too sexy"
  23. Could we find one that lasts 14 years plz?
  24. I don’t care what is optimal. I am intensely bored with defense. I actively hope our defense sucks and we have to win every game 45-38
  25. Can he take Eddie Jackson with him? *looks at Jackson's contract* Nope, probably not. I hate contract extensions so much. Pretend all football players die at 27.
