  1. Go Brewers. I have no qualms about it. I'd root for the Cardinals if needed. My ultimate Cubs fan shame: I was in St. Louis on an unrelated matter during the 2006 World Series. Being a small-town kid who doesn't get to the big city too often, I hung outside the stadium for Games 4 and 5 of the World Series listening to the game on the radio and watching the jumbotron for replays. When it got to game 5 and the chance that I could actually be present when a World Series ended, I rooted for them to win pretty hard. Then when they did, I walked quietly back to my hotel through a throng of cheering Cardinals fans feeling very empty and dirty.
  2. The 6/100 is only his overall average though. When he really needs it, he can up that to 9/100.
  3. The Brewers record in their last 162 games. 98-98 is the Brewers Pythagorean record since the beginning of last season. 15-19 is their Pythagorean record right now. 74-54, the record they'd have to go the rest of the season in order to get to 90 wins, which I doubt would even be enough to win this division. 69.3%, the percentage of balls in play their defense has turned into outs, good for 25th in the majors, essentially even with the 68.4% and 25th they managed last season. All in all, I'm no longer particularly worried about the Brewers.
  4. The Brewers aren't all that good. 75-87 over their last 162, 15-19 pythagorean record this season. Dead .500 pythagorean record since beginning of last season.
  5. I am going to be crazy to say this, but I still think of the Brewers as bigger threats than St. Louis. My best outcome would be the Cardinals to take 2 of 3. I didn't say cheering. I don't think the Brewers are much of a threat, to be honest. Since their high point of 24-10 last season, they have gone 75-87. Gallardo is out for the season, their pen is still horrible. The Cardinals shouldn't be much of a threat long-term, but I still would rather see them knocked down a few notches.
  6. I wasn't gonna say it because I didn't want to pointlessly bash Theriot like I tend to do sometimes, but yeah.
  7. Ted Lilly 1, Diamondbacks ze-....well, one also. And a more important one. But TODAY, it was Ted Lilly 1, Diamondbacks nothing.
  8. Johnson overmatched. He's got to prove he can lay off that high fastball or he'll never make it in the big leagues.
  9. Could Soto throw out Chuck Norris? Chuck Norris wouldn't run on him. Would Chuck Norris ever be a baserunner, or just hit a HR every time?
  10. Except for the insane uproar that would cause with the media and fans, perhaps. Stupid media and fans. You have to stop using Marmol in blowouts so that he can be used in situations like that.
  11. There's your Reed Johnson "single so it doesn't seem like my day was worthless even though it was" contribution.
  12. I never liked Mark Grace all that much. I don't dislike him. He's just sort of blech.
  13. OBP by outs 0 - .367 1 - .407 2 - .332 With 2 outs RISP .344. They don't really get on a lot with 2 outs, and when they do it's more often with risp than anything else. Sure, if you want to look at the actual records of what happened. Don't you watch the games?
  14. Sounded fairly tame on the radio. But the team has been playing horribly, they are losing early in game 1 of a homestand against a team that embarrassed them in the playoffs. They wasted a leadoff hit, and a completely frozen stiff Soriano made another out. I think there was a lot too boo about if somebody was prone to the booing. Take the worst 20 game stretch for any player and most would have a BA of under .200. And most would be booed.
  15. Using range factor, Pie is worth about one extra ball in center a game compared to Reed Johnson. That must have been today's one.
  16. I'd hope so, because he hasn't shown me enough power to justify hitting him 5th. If there is no lefty behind Ramirez, right-handed pitchers might throw nothing but pitches out of the strike zone to Ramirez. This, apparently, is a bad thing, though I can't for the life of me figure out why.
  17. That never gets old. It gets better every time I see it. I can almost enjoy it at this point.
  18. Theriot robbed. I want to hate the Diamondbacks, but I can't. At least I know how our season will end this time around.
  19. Every time Reed Johnson starts vs. a right-handed pitcher, my desire to see this team win wanes a little.
