  1. Was the offense that bad? 9 hits, 2 BBs, consistently hitting the ball hard. Seemed like one of those nights where the hits just wouldn't bunch.
  2. The offense wasn't that bad. Just couldn't seem to bunch the hits.
  3. Flukey bad night for Dempster, had to use the b-level bullpen so that made it look worse than it was. One starting pitcher showed up, one didn't. It happens.
  4. *IF* Zambrano can somehow win tomorrow, we're in a tied series with three straight positive pitching matchups.
  5. Why don't you be a liar again. Huh? What did I lie about? 2008 Cubs differential- +184 2007 Cubs- +62 Could you please cite the quotation where I said "the 2007 and the 2008 Cubs are the same team"? There is some carryover to the team that shouldn't be ignored, but I never said they were the same team. It's rude to attribute things to people that they never said.

  7. The crowd was eerily quiet even when the Cubs were winning. There was no reason not to point it out.
  8. 0-7 Outscored 44-17, a negative run differential of almost four per game. Epic.
  9. yeah but i don't get what you're attributing it to is what i'm saying I have no idea. Probably nothing. But how much a sample do we need before we decide Cubs playoff underperformance isn't a fluke? 20 games? 30? 50? 100? I'm asking an honest question.
  10. Are you seriously comparing last year's team to this year's team? Yeah, no point in reading your posts anymore. It's called cognitive dissonance. Anything that doesn't agree with your preconceived notions can be discarded without consideration. Stop trying to change the subject. Comparing the 2007 Cubs to the 2008 Cubs was silly. Same manager. Same ballpark. Same fan base. Same 3 and 4 hitters. All but 1 inning tonight pitched by players on the 2007 team. Same 2b. Same LF/leadoff hitter. Not at all the same. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Anything that doesn't agree with your preconceived notions can be discarded without consideration. He'll, I'll do you one better: 9-20 in playoff games since WWII. Fluke? the cubs haven't been very good since wwII are you trying to say there are ghosts in wrigley or something because otherwise i don't get it and we had a priest in the dugout today anyway They were the better team in at least three playoff series off the top of my head, maybe four. Didn't help.

  14. What are the odds of a team that is statistically superior losing four straight playoff games with a -15 run differential? At what point are we allowed to wonder if it's something wrong with the team and not just flukes?
  15. And we get the bad end of that pitching matchup. I'm beginning to wonder if that no-hitter was worth it.
  16. They are already counting the Cubs and Brewers. Seems fair to me.
  17. I don't. If it's going to be bad, I want fun bad. Run the playoff losing streak to 9.
  18. I would like to point out that Jason Marquis finished the regular season with an ERA+ in three digits. Again. Cubs fans who hate him befuddle me.
  19. wait what happened? The home run that would have meant we were still probably going to lose died at the track.
  20. Yep. In the span of one game. It's not even that good. We have to win tomorrow just to even be at a simple home-field disadvantage (i.e. the same position the Dodgers were in before today).
  21. So you're here to say "I told you so?" Walking the bases loaded and giving up a grand slam, has nothing to do with playing "lackadaisical" so save that noise. Yeah that's what I'm saying. And it has everything to do with playing that way especially on the offensive side. Just seems like they thought they could show up and turn it on. Everything ever said bad about the Cubs teams is right because they lost a playoff game. They are losing and you're still wrong.
  22. 9-20 in Post-WWII playoff games. Seven straight losses. Fun bad.
  23. It's spooky how quiet this crowd was early in the game. Not at all Wrigley-like. Almost as if they knew...
  24. Playoff losing streak very likely to reach seven. Seven. Disgusting.
  25. Unless Zambrano is utterly dominating tomorrow, yes. And even then, probably yes.
