  1. Personally, I like seeing dynasties. I'd love for the Red Sox to make it to that point.
  2. You know, I still feel good about this team.
  3. We should be way, way better at shootouts than this. Bulin got beat all four times (one Blues player whiffed and Kariya lost the puck a little).
  4. Faceoffs are a real problem tonight.
  5. This team gives up way, way too many goals. There's just no getting around that.
  6. And my third straight facepalm goes to that Blue goal :(
  7. Pat Kane > Sidney Crosby /facepalm Kane doesn't dive and isn't protected by the refs. I repeat my previous sentiments.
  8. Pat Kane > Sidney Crosby /facepalm
  9. I found a way to watch this at work just in time to see Kaner's awesome goal. Beautiful shot.
  10. Sheesh. Meanwhile, I've had applications to two different NSBB-style forums for other teams ignored. (Didn't say anything about being a Cubs fan, just tried to sign up).
  11. Joey Q = teh awesomez. 1-0 Hawks on a Patrick Kane goal, 38 seconds in.
  12. I'm not sure. Before the Cubs, the national media used the playoff failures by the Red Sox to play up the long history of falling short. Since the Red Sox won in 2004, the whole "umpteenth year without a WS" has fallen squarely on the shoulders of Cubs . This wasn't a big issue to the Cubs in 1984 or 89. As a matter of fact both years the media used 1969 as the indicator of how long it's been since the Cubs were that good. So how'd the Red Sox win it in '04 with that on their shoulders. Right or wrong, the theory that pressure is a drag on chances isn't a theory that it's impossible for a team with the pressure to win, only harder.
  13. Wow? That's really really weird. Not that he was fired, but 4 games into the season. I don't think this is a good move. This will put more pressure on a young team. Hawks fans who no more about hockey than me (which is most of them) seem to think that this is a planned move to end up with Scotty Bowman as GM and Joe Quenneville (sp?) as head coach. GM Dale Tallon has the sword of Damocles hanging over his head. Weird, weird, weird.
  14. Hey, look, it's the Blackhawks! Their season just started!
  15. Three goals? Does the UC scoreboard go that high for the home side?
  16. It's mostly gonna be me crying and Cynosure reporting the opponents' many goals. But yes.
  17. If there we an Intrade market for who would win the most playoff games, Cubs, Blackhawks or Bears, I wonder how that market would have changed in the last two months...
  18. Cubs started out 1-3 and the Brewers 3-1 and we turned out ok. Different sports, different season lengths, different spread between good and bad teams. I'm just saying, if the fans go away because of 3 bad games, then whatever. 3 games is nothing. If they went 0-2-1 in the middle of the season no one would blink an eye. They don't *have* the fans though. They are trying to get them. There is a buzz about this team right now, and a bad start can take that away.
  19. Cubs started out 1-3 and the Brewers 3-1 and we turned out ok. Different sports, different season lengths, different spread between good and bad teams.
  20. The Blackhawks are doing a wonderful job of squandering all the fan interest they managed to drum up in the offseason. 1 point out of 6, that puts them about 2.5 points behind a playoff pace already.
