  1. I put Izturis under the Neifi category, that should say it all. You mean he's going to save us!
  2. Can I choose all of the above?
  3. Now at least I know I'm not the only one with voices in my head.
  4. I'd still be a Cubs fan, but I pretty much agree with the assessment of those two players.
  5. Apparently, Lendale White is getting along well with his new teammates. Link
  6. I loved the article, Bruce. I am surprised to hear Ohman acts like that. I'm not surprised Mercker wasa great guy. He's a god among men.
  7. I would've really liked to see Zambrano hitting fifth.
  8. That the teen (over eighteen) was "sexy," "tan" and "leggy" added to my interest in the story. I could have seen that from the pics.
  9. Right. He was signed for 2004, mainly as insurance in case Grudzielanek didn't re-sign. Wasn't Grudz already signed for 2004 when Walker was signed. It's my recollection that Walker was signed to play some second, first, third, and left. the Grudz got hurt and Walker became the starter. When Grudz returned, Walker was never given any playing time at the other positions.
  10. Heading my way? Was supposed to pick up a load at 8:00 over at P & G in Lacombe going to Chino, CA..... but the load isn't ready. If I do pick it up, I can't take it all the way to CA because I need to be home by Fri...... so they were talking about having me run it into Dallas and switching there with another load...... but nobody seems to know when this thing will be ready..... so I don't really know what's going to happen. Maybe I'll just get PO'd and go home ??? Well, I do hope you make it home in time. I think I've been to Lacombe...or maybe I knew someone from there. I can't remember.
  11. Time to get on the Trib payroll and make this a recurring gig! I hear the Sun Times has an opening... What you want to work for the same Newspaper that has Mariotti? Didn't you use to have standards? Actually, I don't really want to work at all. I'd prefer to write my op-ed pieces from the comfort of my own home. :)
  12. Singular in one clause and plural in the other. Fred, Fred, Fred. I'm a very cunning linguist, no ? Did Fred just say, "cunnilingus!"

  14. I like Shipley's myself.
  15. The Reggie Bush? Was he wearing #5? He now wears #25. He showed some nice moves, especially once during kick returning drills. I also got Brees, Horn, and about 18 others on my ball. They were very accomodating after practice. Horn is one of the most personable guys out there. congrats vance. i know this is going to be thread-jacking, but i am a big saints fan from the short time i lived in new orleans. how are they looking? is deuce playing at all? how do you feel about brees? i know brooks wasn't the greatest, but i think brees only succeeded in SD because of the system. Brees and Horn looked good. Deuce was running reps with the first team offense and splitting time with Bush. Some interesting points are that Devry Henderson seems to have subplanted Stallworth as the number two receiver. The defense looks bad, really bad.
  16. Why do you hate them? There fans are rude, dumb, and obnoxious people who have this anti-Cubs agenda, that they root for the Twins and Tigers over the Cubs. They are not true fans. They pretend to like the White Sox b/c they hate the Cubs. And why is your SN misleading?? Before calling someone dumb, you might want to learn the correct usage for the words there, their, and they're.

  18. Wow...I just got back from watching Saints traing camp today (and getting Reggie Bush's auto :) ) and so I've been MIA. I'm happy to see I made the Trib....this is my third such time to make it! As for those who've questioned my flip flopping to Dierker. My choices have always been 1. Davey Johnson 2. Fredi Gonzalez 3. Larry Dierker. However, just recently I read Dierker's book and checked out his blog more closely and have since moved Dierker to the top of the list. I still think Johnson and Gonzalez would make excellent choices as well, and I'd definitely be happy if any of the three were made the next Cubs manager.
  19. but the question is not what the vet's committee thinks, at least not for a number of years. what is important is what the writers think. Did you read the Rob Neyer article that Vance is talking about? Neyer was talking about writers (granted, some of them didn't have HOF votes) and not the Veteran's Committee. I doubt McGwire gets elected next year. Exactly. The writers seem unwilling to vote McGwire in. I'll be shocked if he actually gets more than 40% of the vote in January.
  20. Considering I've seen pretty much zilch connecting the Cubs and Dierker in any managerial speculation in the media, I'd say the Girardi option is more likely, but then who knows...the media is probably speculating just as much as we are. I find it quite unfortunate that Dierker hasn't been mentioned in connection with the Cubs job. Maybe Bruce could ask Jim his thoughts on Dierker....(hint, hint)
  21. If Tex will still play left, I have no doubt that he can. The Cubs could have the pitching that would interest the Rangers. The Cubs could offer a package that included Hill, Marshall, or Marmol along with other players. If Tex becomes available, he would be nice to slot between Lee and Ramirez.
  22. McGwire will have to restore some of his credibility if he ever plans to enter Cooperstown without a ticket. Based on a recent Rob Neyer article and poll of HOF voters, McGwire won't even sniff fifty percent of the vote, much less the 75% needed for induction.
