  1. T.O. has returned to practice for the Cowboys.
  2. The draft has slowed to a crawl...or worse. It may be time to place a 24-hour limit on picks or we may be drafting when the season starts.
  3. Before we get too excited over the sweep, keep in mind: Houston sucks. That said, congrats Ryan!
  4. Ah...I love having 7th period off again this year. I may be an hour late getting to watch the game, but it sure beats waiting until 3 pm.
  5. I think we should all take a shot of Grey Goose in his honor tonight. Who's with me?
  6. I wanted to go to these games, but my district scheduled me to start work this week.
  7. Vance made a thread about it awhile back, and he seemed to enjoy Dierker's book quite a bit. he was talking about "This Ain't Brain Surgery" I think. I was. I'm not sure I'm interested in Dierker's book. I want to read Schuerholz's book as well. If anyone reads it, I'd appreciate his or her opinion.
  8. Maddux surely was dogging it when he went 5-0 to start the season, too. Why is it hard to accept the fact that he's in a string of good starts. This string may or may not last the remainder of the season. He had a string of good starts to begin the year, and then a string of not so good ones. That's baseball....especially in regards to a 40-year old pitcher. To think Maddux was dogging it because he didn't like the Cubs is ludicrous if not paranoia.
  9. That almost worries me. If the Cubs like him, there must be something wrong with him. Vance can correct me if I'm wrong since he's been on the Freddie bandwgn for a long time, but I think they interviewed him before they hired Dusty. You are correct. Fredi was interviewed prior to Dusty being hired. There was speculation that had Dusty and Hendry not reached an agreement, Gonzalez would have been the choice. A few years ago, Gonzalez was one of the most talked about guys in managerial vacancies. I don't hear his name bantered as much as it had been, but I still think if a team wants to go with someone who isn't a re-tread he's an excellent choice. Hendry seems to want to pattern the Cubs after the Braves, though I'm not really sure he understands how to do that, so it makes sense he'd target one of Cox's lieutenants to head the ship in that direction. I like Gonzalez. He's number two or three on my list, but not because I think he'd be a subpar choice, it's just I really like what Dierker would bring to the table and I think Davey Johnson will be a winner wherever he goes. If those two guys aren't available, Gonzalez makes an outstanding choice.
  10. When the job opens, Cubs, please consider the following: 1. Larry Dierker 2. Davey Johnson 3. Fredi Gonzalez That is all. Thanks.
  11. I have a feeling with the Cubs season continuing to spiral down the crapper, that we're going to be reaching new levels of Dustyisms that we have not yet seen. While I hate the futility of this season and wish Theriot and others would get a longer look, I can at least relish that I'm going to see a level of stupidity that I'm not sure I've seen since 1986 or somewhere around that time.
  12. Utley would be better if he had to play on a pogo stick.
  13. Zepp really should have finished second. I think the results of this poll will show that as Zep will beat Queen with a larger margin than The Who did.
  14. Bruce, is it true that Dusty doesn't start Murton because he doesn't like daywalkers?
  15. Only a matter of time til Cutler beats out the horrible, Jake Plummer. Yep.
  16. The fact that Lane is better? Ok Palmerio then. Bats: Left? I am thinking Wilson could bat left and do as much damage to the Astros as Orlando. Plus explain the fact that they never ever have a black guy on the roster. Are you serious about this? So they hate black people, but are okay with Latinos/Hispanics? Why did they sign him in the first place? Pupura didn't get the racist memo until it was too late.
  17. I too am optimistic about the Cowboys defense this year.
  18. If Ellis can adapt to the OLB spot in the 3-4, I think he and Ware will put some hurting on the QB's across the league.
  19. Tony Romo has had a very nice game starting for the Cowboys tonight.
  20. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/vance_the_cubs_fan/armstrong.jpg THIS THREAD BLOWS
  21. Hill's command is not as sharp tonight as it was in his previous two outings.
