    I can see a number of teams being willing to give him a non-guaranteed contract with an invitation to spring training. If he'll take it, then he might earn his chance. I doubt many teams would be willing to guarantee him a spot.

    While I wouldn't really want Derosa as my secondbaseman, signing him may not be a bad idea. If Izturis sucks or gets hurt (likely) Derosa could slide over to SS. Derosa is a versatile player that actually plays well enough to make his versatility worthwhile.

    Sure, if the Cubs could get Dontrelle at the right price, they should do it. On the other hand, the Cubs do have to consider the cost in players and dollars to acquire him. I wouldn't mind having Dontrelle, but I don't think the Cubs would be serious players. There are teams with deeper minor leagues who have more players to spare than the Cubs do that would have a greater desire to get him. Personally, I'd rather see the Cubs throw money at Matsuzaka than throw players at the Marlins for Dontrelle.
